Akubra Stetson Open Road?

I got this hat for the "character". It is an Australian made Open Road. I've never seen one of this vintage before. I do recall seeing an older one maybe one time on the forum. It's marked a 57 but I guess it has shrunk over time. I wish it hadn't. It is destined for someone else's noggin. What info do you guys have about this odd duck?

Stetson licensed the Open Road to Akubra for several years.

I have one, nicer than anything put out by Stetson for decades. I also have a "Highway" labled Stetson made by Akubra for the Aussie marketplace.
"According to Akubra's literature, in 1951, Akubra finalized a deal with Stetson to manufacture and distribute Stetson hats in Australia." so says J the L.

This Australian (AKUBRA) made Stetson Open Road is heading my way from o're yonder!

I am stoked! Does anyone know when Stetson yanked Akubra's licence to produce Stetsons? I asked the seller, a retailer, to speculate as to age but have heard nothing yet in reply.
I paid much too much for it on a "buy it now" format auction... but I didn't wanna risk losing it, eh? Don't tell Mrs. Blaine, she's out of town this week!
I so seldom see vintage Akubras, esp. in larger sizes I had to move on this 'un! Aussies all seem to have very small heads.[huh]

This is the made by Akubra for Stetson "Highway". I had never seen one prior to this & have yet to see another. It is rather like on OR w/ a wider ribbon

Sorry to revive this thread. I spoke to Akubra and they said they don't own one and also people in their flagship store took pics.

Great find with the old one but here is an original from their first run (see red lining)
