I think it looks fine.In my experience one should do what it takes to make a hat a "tool" that you'll actually use.

Akubra Riverina Owners

In my opinion, one of the nicest hats Akubra makes is the Riverina, especially in the sand colour. I haven't seen a thread on this hat when looking for pictures and reviews before purchasing so thought I'd post some info.
It's a very wide brimmed hat, that comes unlined. The brown leather band contrasts beautifully with the sand colour. It has three ventilation holes and is great for an outdoors hat in the Australian sun. The brim swoops down at the front and rear.
This is my wife's one, and I have pictured it with my Sand (formerly known as Silverbelly) campdraft so you can see the colour difference. It is quite different. I've also pictured it near my Sombrero, which has the brim ironed out. The Sombrero is the only hat that makes the Riverina brim look small.
The crown is the same as the Coober Pedy, but the brim is significantly wider. The Hattery (Hats Direct) also have an exclusive model made for them called the "Blue Mountains". It has the same crown, but with a brim that is in between the Coober Pedy and Riverina. It is lined, and the brim is bound. I will post more info about that hat in a separate thread at a later time.

You both wear your Akubras well!
My wife has an older Riverina. It has a smaller profile, has a bound brim, fewer vents and is lined. The band is off another hat. Funny how hat models evolve.
The Riverina is her favorite and she has quite a few nice hats.

I think the style must have changed in 2011 then. The official akubra website says it was introduced in 2011.

I like this a lot! I wish Akubra did a more 'normal' fedora style ribbon as an option with all their bush hats.

The Riverina is a Coober Pedy with a wider brim, so maybe you should have bought a Coober Pedy.

Oh I agree with that opinion. I only thought about trimming before the hat arrived.
The Coober Pedy is a little small brimmed for my fat headed self. That is why I went to the Riverina.
One could do some trimming and still have a wider brim than the Coober.

When I worked the carnival I would send the newbies down to the shop for the 2x4 stretcher when I did a miscut. In the hat world we sure could use a brim extender for the times we make mistakes.
