Akubra Campdraft brown

I've found a Stetson Open Road in Walnut.

What colour is Walnut? It looks somewhere between Fawn and Cedar Brown. Is that close?

How does Stetson compare to Akubra for durability? How does it handle the rain?

Among my favorites to appear on this forum TJ's Resistol is probably my #1 favorite.

That Stagecoach is Cordova color. I have one like that with the original ribbon and several cordova color Stagecoach hats.

Thank you. And yes, you do. It rivals my BGGCD as my favorite hat. The fact is that the BGGCD, RM Williams and MoonStone are all too wonderful to effectively rate against each other. They simply work for different situations. All 3 are great hats and I have never regretted their purchase for even a moment.

From my local RM Williams store. The RM Williams store closest to me doesn't have my size in stock. So it's being transferred overnight from another store. Then it's a 15 minute drive once I get the call that the hat is in store.

The benefit being an Australian that is into Akubra hats!

Stetson, on the other hand, are really hard to get here!

The photo of the Cedar Brown looks pretty close to the Medium Brown that RM Williams sells. It should be interesting to compare/contrast the two. I hope that they got the ugly pouncing gap issue just outside of the hatband resolved at HatsDirect. I might want another hat from them - someday.

I think I would really enjoy that hat!
Seems as though size 59 is hard to come by at present, and that brings up a size question- I'd say I'm right at size 58, and I now have a size 59 BGCD that I need to shim out to fit. Had it for six months or so, its been wet etc., I can't tell if it's shrunk.
Opinions on ordering the 58 vs. the 59 when I order the RM hat?

I have not had any problems with my Stetson hats in the rain.

I see Delmonico hatters has the open road in 4 colors now.

Seven or eight years ago, someone posted a picture here of a mid-brown CD and it was an absolutely stunning hat. I dug around but couldn't find the pic. It was one the best looking hats I've ever seen.

Most of my hats are Akubra's. I always round up to the next size. I actually measure 59.4 cm so I get a size 60. I usually need 1 or 2 bits of sizing foam when the hat is new but after 6-12 months of regular wear the leather sweatband shrinks to the point that the foam is no longer required.
