All of that said, I walked up to a check out counter this last weekend in my 1940s silverbelly Open Road and got "I thought Indiana Jones was walking up in here!".
Wear what you want. It won't matter.
Ha! You know, I didn't think of that!Yeah, well, that wouldn't happen if you didn't carry a whip everywhere.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Last Mardi Gras weekend, I was crossing from my car to my apartment front door, wearing my dark green-with-brown-leather-collar London Fog hunting jacket * and a medium-brown '30s Borsalino. A couple of my neighbors were standing nearby. I heard one say, "Man looks like he in a movie."All of that said, I walked up to a check out counter this last weekend in my 1940s silverbelly Open Road and got "I thought Indiana Jones was walking up in here!".

you have an Akubra
save your money and buy a better hat
I fully agree. I have 3 dress Akubras and all of them have a deserved spot in the rotationEven if you're in the custom hat market, you owe it to yourself to have an Akubra (or three), IMHO. They definitely have a place in the rotation.
Ryan some people dont like Akubras as much as others. Moontheloon is one of them.
yes you do look good in the Federation. My question is do you want to keep with a fedora? Do you like the sun coverage? Another good fedora style with a wider brim is the Squatter. Here is mine in carbon grey.
in fact I think you can click on the picture and be taken to my photobucket page. have a look, I have lots of Akubras, and if you have any question feel free to ask.

I haven't bit the bullet yet on a custom hat, but as I understand it, $150 is about where they start. So going custom is only a small step up from the Akubra range.Since im a hat newb can you explain? Im not to the point of spending loads of money on a hat yet. Im mostly interested in the 150ish price range.

Correct, imo .Can't go wrong with any of the akubra hats. The more you beat them the better they look and you won't feel bad for the money.
