Air Force One jacket

Just read the recent thread about president Obama A-2 (could not post as the thread is already closed), and wanted to check about the president other wearing, as he always have nice suits, shirts or neckties.

I found out there is an Air Force One jacket which looks nice on him (at least on these pictures).

I like this jacket and I'm wondering, does anyone know if the jacket (or replica) is available somewhere around? (without the name Barack Obama, of course...)

(they should get him an A-2 who fits like this one)

I think I recognise it: Look for air force utility/work jacket, or Royal Air force general purpose jacket (they are almost identical). You can probably find an RAF one for around £10.

It looks tacky. And anyone also notice the loose thread hanging down from the presidential seal patch on the other side? :eeek:
Otherwise it looks like a nice golfing jacket.

My problem is labels or badges on any jacket. Particularly if it's a President. We know who he is. We know what the planes are called. It looks puerile. The jacket itself looks like an unremarkable, poly-cotton wash and wear utility jacket. I'm sure it's perfectly serviceable.

Some of the famous makers here should issue him a trim A-2 with correct patch and name tag.

That's what it reminds me of. I had assumed it was drawn from current issue somewhere in the US military....

I doubt that would be permitted - or at least politically realistic. As CiC, I should expect that the President (whoever is in office) would feel obligated to wear whatever A2 is current issue. I imagine, were he to wear an expensive repro tailored for him rather than what the troops are told is good enough for them, there would be rather more fuss made than a few of us jacket queens on the internet moaning about fit.

I agree with Edward. It's like British politicians wearing Marks and Sparks suits, rather than bespoke Savile Row ones. It just doesn't play well with the electorate if they know that their elected members are spending time flicking through cloth swatches and linings and attending fittings.

The tacky blue golf jacket is limited to AF1 and isn't USAF issue by any stretch. The REAL USAF pilots etc wear A-2's, probably issue. My old lead wears an issue A-2 and it looks pretty good. He's also a Lt. Col and Squardon commander in his spare time. I THINK that the prez gives or sells the golf jackets to citizens getting a free ride (on AF1).

Plus, I've seen Obi in a current issue A-2, he's so slim and the jacket so baggy that he looked pregnant!

You know, I live in Italy, so for 400€ I can get a nice suit without much difficulty...

Neither here nor there. If a president of whatever affiliation was seen wearing an expensive, custom A2 his opponents would immediately be all over it with "so what he has issued to our troops, he thinks is good enough for them but not him?" rhetoric. Just not worth it for someone in his position.

Even issued A-2s can be tailored to fit properly. I know Navy Aviators that have had their issued G-1s tailored.

In general I agree that looking rich while a politician is seen as bad, but I don't see that being the case here. Even the most expensive jackets mentioned here are on the order of $1000 USDollars. The jacket he has is WAY too big, and the cotton job looks incredibly cheap. I've had a similar cotton / polyester jacket I received free of charge and it was well worth what I paid for it.

I think he could probably spring for a better fitting jacket without feeling politically ill.

If he was half as cool as he pretends to be, he would just wear the leather jacket he owned prior to getting elected. Then there would be no controversy. But apparently he was never cool enough to even own a cool leather in the first place?
