Well, the home desperatley needs a new carpet runner for the stairway. I've been hunting high and low and beating the bricks all over town. I cant find anything affordable!! I'm looking specifically for the old turkish styled designs, and looking to (eventually because they're so expensive) go with brass carpet hold-downs at each step. I dont want to go bare wood, because my dog will tear the wood apart with his toenails and i want to prevent slippage!

Anyone have any help or ideas to offer?? I know we got ourselves a really nice wool rug a few years ago, of course I cant remember for the life of me where we got it though,:eusa_doh: ......price was great, quality great too!

Here's the general idea....

I hope you find a stair runner. My Great Grandma has one in her home and she called it a carpet runner not a stair runner...hope that helps you with your search? She told me she got it from a rug store in Baltimore or Boston? I'm not sure...I was a little kid when she told me.
Good luck and if you find one please please post pictures:)

cowboy76, I am beginning to detect a general aversion to spending... :)

Try an ebay seller names rugman.com. I have several Persian carpets from them at great prices (a full room sized rug for under $400 is CHEAP). But beware that buying any rug from any mail order source almost always means $100 or more for shipping. They weigh a ton and are difficult to ship.

I'm actually Mrs Cowboy76,....
Not an aversion to spending, per say, but just a wise cautiousness and spendthift to some degree,....frugal.

We also have a dog with some stomach issues,....as you can imagine,..this does NOT help out the quest and certainly does affect what we're willing to spend.;)

we'll have to check out the rugman you speak of,..thank you.
