Isn't that why we're here? Get THE jacket, that one that we will keep forever?
That is how many of us got here but those who have stuck around have come to accept that there isn’t just one...
It’s actually a lot more fun for me this way because you are not putting super high expectations on any one jacket to be the pinnacle of perfection but rather another piece in your collection.

That third shot of the sleeve is where the debate ends for me. And it ends in Aero's favor. while the HH from Schott looks nice, it simply can't compete with CXL.
yes, there is quite some difference in grain, more prominent on the back as well.

i like the back on the Schott better.

my only concern now is the sizing, mixed review on whether get your size or one size up.

I agree with the former, after all how much does a well fitting hoodie or flannel add to your size anyways? At least for me it's not a whole size up.

This jacket can't get here fast enough and with thanksgiving around I'll say I'll have pictures up next week. On and off the bike, with the hoodie and a shirt.

edit: following week after thanksgiving
Heck I'll even take pics with no shirt underneath!

I think size 40 will be fine. Where did you order it from?

blobsterroll,

"Also idk if it's just turning 30 but everything I buy now are nice quality things I intend to keep forever. So this is it for me lol I guess I don't have that itch like y'all do. Isn't that why we're here? Get THE jacket, that one that we will keep forever?"
Well, Thats why I came here...
I'm over 60. Came for 1, Left with 2...I'm done, but I stick around to see the new styles and watch Guys chase their "tails".

Well...

sh!t

looks like it's not shipping out today... I'll put one of my hobbies as: waiting. I'm waiting for car parts, I'm waiting for my watch, and now I'm waiting for my jacket.

I am gonna go against the grain and vote for Schott. As much as I love the way the Aero looks, to me, it is just that. I think the Schott is a better MC jacket. I have a 618 (and probably always will), and it has become my go-to jacket to ride in. The #5 front zipper disqualifies the Aero for MC use in my book. I really would love to get a J106, but not for motorcycling. I think you will like the 618, it's a classic.

Germany, Rheinland-Pfalz area. Tickets are like 200 bucks. I might just do this lol

You can take a ride up to Cologne. Kentaurus carries a lot of Aeros and can measure you up. The owner, Stefan, is special but a great guy, IMO. has a lot of other interesting stuff too, so well worth the ride.

Ok. I finally got the Schott!

DAMN. Is all I can say, I think it will take a lot to break this jacket's will. Its stiff as hell, like VERY stiff.

Its very restrictive, I dont know if its just because its not broken in yet but it restricts my movement a bit EXCEPT at the sleeves. I can raise my arms and reach for the handlebars and the rest of the jacket wont move. However, the front is very tight like I wont be able to do barbell rows with them. Pics below will show how it fits, and also made me realize I need to work on legs and my posture.

Attached is with just the shirt underneath. Right now its the end of the day, didnt go to the gym but ate carbs and my chest measures at 40.5-41 inches. Good exact fit at the shoulder area, but very boxy at the body.

Next up is with layers since everyone keeps talking about how you need to size up if you want to layer, tried to simulate what Im actually wearing when I am riding my motorcycle and the temperature is below 50 degrees American. The flannel has a base layer and a shirt underneath and I can still close it. Obviously a bit more constrictive, especially at the biceps area. But again I can raise my arms to reach for mini apes handlebars and the rest of the jacket wont move.

And here is how it fits on the shoulders

Now I am calling unto the experienced leather jacket wearing people like @Monitor (thanks for all your insights) I am not sure if this is how its supposed to fit or if when it breaks in will it "stretch" some.

I would buy a Size 42 but I am unsure how much the difference would be this one has "enough" room to even layer for me IMHO but I am not sure for how long I will enjoy this jacket since I want to get on gear. But I am worried a 42 might be a bit too big. In terms of "S", "M", and "L" where does the 42 fit? My Sedici Gabriel motorcycle jacket is a Size 40 but its not as constrictive as this jacket and according to LegendaryUSA it has the same measurements.

Let me know. But its a great jacket!

@blobsterroll , I'm not quite sure what do you mean, where exactly do you find the jacket restrictive? When you extend your arms forward?

IMO this 618 fits you great! We have a similar posture from what I can tell from the photos and I too have the same issue with many riding jackets but I'll need some more info on this.

Regardless, this also means that Aero's jacket would feel 10x more restrictive. I've had that one as well, literally couldn't reach for the handlebars. Very nice jacket but definitely not what I'd wear on a bike - Tho I see a lot of people do so I dunno, maybe it's just me.

Can't comment on how it feels but it looks fine - it doesn't have any of the visual signs of being too small or tight. Have you worn many leather jackets before? I ask because sometimes people react to the feel of a bike jacket because they are not used to wearing a less yielding material. I'm not crazy about this style of jacket but this one looks pretty nice.

I think that’s important. All styles really have different feels once worn. Different thickness and drape has different feel. For a first wear if you’ve never worn that style or that leather they can feel tight or loose in different areas but that’s just your mind playing tricks on you, until you figure that jacket out. I think it’s an often over looked subject for new entrants into this game we play.

That's a really great way of putting it, dannyk.

Around the deltoid area, I am not sure why but I feel some pressure like its wanting me to pull my shoulders back (prolly a good thing) but then the front of the jacket seems tight and its probably because its a riding jacket and is meant for your arms to be forward and scapula/lats relaxed. But then again its Horsehide and tough as hell, so that maybe it. Cow/Steerhide stretches a bit more and moves with you IMHO.

As far as fit, you think sizing up will be too big for me, just based on how the 40 fits? Thanks a lot dude! You're an FDL National Treasure :)

EDIT: Oh! Ok so I was wearing my hoodie and tried to layer the jacket over it, and it kinda feels restrictive on the shoulder and bicep area when I reached up to fix it. It could just be the stiffness. Wondering if the shipping had anything to do with it being somewhat exposed to the elements dries out the leather.

Feels amazing tho!

Not like this one, this is my first expensive jacket tbh, and very first Horsehide lol and yes this thing is thick as hell!

The Sedici riding one that I have has accommodations for armor and probably why it feels lest restrictive, but looks funny. And also I've rode with that jacket in the snow, rain, etc. multiple times
