After extensive mail contact with the always kind and helpful Holly, I ordered a heavily modded version (or perversion, upon you to judge once it arrives :D ) of the jacket and I'll post pictures here as soon as it arrives. I ordered a size 40 and I'm positive it'll fit well but cannot hurt to doublecheck here and collect information for potential buyers in the future.

So, who out there owns a Windward? Any information, pictures and discussion about the style welcome! I found some very old threads but there must have been others who were interested into the jacket, since!

THe FL member who handily calls himself Windward! Personally, I think they're a great looking jacket, and look forward to seeing the pics.

Apologies if I am being a bit dense here but I am curious as to why Aero and Eastman (ELMC) both use the Windward name for one of their jackets especially as they are quite different in style,or maybe because of that-I looked through the ELMC products thread but did not see any reference to this
Thanks
Peter

Windward used to be the label used by Montgomery Ward for their leather jacket line, and never referred to a specific model.

I'm not positive right this second, but in general elasticized sides on jackets started to come in in the mid '40s, and leather waistbands like that with the elasticized bits in the late '40s-'early '50s.

Interesting to know. Was thrown when I first saw this being used on a vintage style, as I had always associated it with 80s jackets a la Duran Duran.

I've read somewhere that a number of makers made this style. I've got one with a Cooper label. Does anyone know who else made similar jackets and also did Montgomery Ward make their own jackets or did they commission them?
