Hello,

Is there anyone who has a picture of the Aero Rockafella jacket being worn by a person?

I would love to see one as I'm considering ordering this jacket.

Thurston Bros. has posted a few on Facebook. These make the jacket look much cooler in my opinion than the photos on the Aero site.

Rudie's jacket was produced before the Rockafella was officially released - which in itself was a jacket that Aero originally made for Levis.

I have several Aero jackets that are all 'keepers'( Bootlegger...Stuart..HalfBelt..and Hwymn)...and I certainly don't need anymore...but out of all the new Aero styles the Rockafella would be my choice if I talked myself into ordering another. However..I might ask for a slightly modified smaller collar..but if not doable..no biggie. The brown goat would be my choice in this style.

I've got one on the way from Thurston Bros. Light brown suede, contrast stitching, Crail lining by Lochcarron and made by the famous Julie Lietch. Got delayed a bit, but Carrie has it in hand. Wade modeled it for me in a couple of pictures they sent me. They were going to post them on the Thurston Bros. website, but they're not up yet.

Very nice. I'm currently about halfway through a weight loss programme; when I get to the end, I plan to reward myself with a new jacket. One of these in black goat is the frontrunner, though depending on time of ordering and thus delivery season, it might end up playing second fiddle to a Wilderness. Hopefully I'll be able to order both!

Man that is beautiful and it fits you absolutely perfectly. I don’t understand why I never tried or even thought to try this model. Looks superb!

Thanks, it's been hard to get motivated (I've been much bigger than I should have been for the best part of the last decade, really), but now I can see results (and I'm not out of breath tying my own shoelaces...), it is getting easier. A new leather will certainly help sweeten the deal - plus I have a whole bunch of nice stuff I don't currently fit, so it'll be like finding a new wardrobe when I crack into that lot!

Rockafella...

The leather is Tobacco Badalassi. I chose this leather because I liked how my other russet Badalassi jacket felt. Heavy (in weight not in thickness), more pliable than horsehide, and very beautiful grains. The only downside is the squeaking noise. However, after my recent experience with fancier goatskin from another brand, I've realized that goatskin would be the better choice for this (Rockafella) pattern, for best drape.

The Jacket is a stock size 42. Here is the fit pics:

This is a TRIM jacket. But comes with (seemingly) big shoulders. There are soft padding in the front of the shoulder to keep the front yoke looking the way they do. The actual shoulder slope is very normal for the size, in consistent with all my other jackets in the same size. The chest is very trim, measures 43" in circumference for a size 42, or 21.5" P2P. But this is not a jacket to go by the P2P imo. If you have either Johnson's M200 or LW's J24 they are the same type of pattern block fit, just different designs. This cut is also very similar to most of my suits, not the modern ones, but the older lower arm holes ones.

The thing I would suggest to watch out for is the sleeve length. It's on the longer side. I am about 6' tall and wears size 34.5" sleeve shirts. This jacket when new has a nape sleeve measurement of 36.5", one inch longer than my (jacket) comfort zone. Luckily the baddy cowhide is very creasy, and has tunneled up with just a few wears. In my experience goatskin will also tunnel, but just watch out for the overall sleeve length.

BTW, back to the leather, this Rockefella size is about the same or a bit trimmer than my Moonshiner (size 40) in heaviest CXL FQHH, but weighs exactly one pound more. The Moonshiner in horsehide is 5.4 lbs, this Baddy cowhide Rockefella is 6.4 lbs. So it seems cows do weigh more than horses given about the same thickness. But much more pliable and wearable out of the box.

I know most would pick the 30's or 50's Half Belts from Aero's lineup. I don't have the 30s but I have the 50s. And imo the Rockafella is way cooler in design. I've found that the LVC design patterns are very different than the usual Aero offering too. Please look up the measuring photos above and check against your current 30s/50s Aero and you will see the difference. Mobility is surprisingly reasonable for the trim torso, even without action back. The pleated "Hercules" back has a lot of give:

Another reason not to worry about the smaller P2P is the buttons closure design. I've never worn this jacket with the top button closed, just like how I wear my sports jackets, so there is plenty of chest room without big measurements.

One more photo for the Rockefella and BadAssLassi, it was raining when I took these photos. No cows were harmed.

Looks great - I think this is the first one I've seen in the wild. I had the impression it's on the trimmer side; I vary in size in an Aero; 44 in most of them, though I wear a 42 in a standard HWM. I think this is one of a few I'd be looking at a 46 in. The quasi-blazer lapels are a big part of the draw for me; I foresee wearing one of these with a collar and tie a lot.

I love the look of this jacket, but the sleeves could use some tapering. Would you mind shooting some pics with the side tabs buttoned on the tighter setting? It might give the body some more shape, which would look even better IMO.

Cinched felt weird to me. Maybe it’s the less drape leather, or there are no vents like suits at the back. My sport jackets are fitted tight at waist and flares out but it’s in wool and there’s a double vent.
