Looks good, I like what you worked out with the back.
....but aren't those cuffs a bit wide?
;-) ;-)

I'm surprised about the drop. I thought it was about 2".

Lol. When I looked at the photos, I had the same concern, but they measure narrower than the photos suggest.

Do you have a close up of the leather? It almost looks black!

No close up photos. It is dark brown, but definitely brown. I have seen other dark seals that have something of a gray black quality/undertone. The dark seal Vincenza is more dark brown, without the gray black undertone.

That's really nice. The vincenza is a totally different beast to the CXL isn't it? The fit is nice and trim. Very sharp....looks the goods to me. What sort of lining did you go for?

Thanks. Its very trim, which I like. I would have preferred it a tad longer in front -- it has very little drop from front to back.

I actually prefer it without the drop front. And I really like the collars on these new 30's Premier Half-belts. (I even asked for one on my Dustbowl. I molded the collar on mine with a little HWT, so it wouldn't stick up, and it really helped the shape.)
Looks to be a good fit all round- particularly like the way it drapes in the back- shoulders are good and tight. I don't think it needs to be any longer- from the pics I would think you would start to lose the proportion and balance if it was longer.
How does it feel when you put it on? Does it feel right?

Length looks good to me, it's a great fit overall, congratulations! The only thing that slightly bothers me is the breast pocket, I think I would like it horizontal and a tad deeper better than this, but that's just a personal taste, the jacket is a winner!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

What sort of lining did you go for?

Which lining did you pick?

Cotton Berry Check.

It feels great . . . fits like a glove. My preference for slightly longer jackets stems from not tucking in my shirts. I try to minimize the amount of shirt that falls below the bottom of my jackets. On the other hand, as you correctly observe, if I go too long, the jacket gets a bit out of balance/proportion for a half belt design. Its a tricky balance. My GW Imperial has a slightly larger drop/longer front and I prefer its dimensions. On the other hand, my prior Plainsman had an even larger drop/longer front and, for my height, I questioned whether it was too much.

Congratulations. that is a good looking jacket. I went for the dark seal Vicenza and think it is a great alternative to FQHH. I have not worn it much and it is showing very little signs of wear. It reminds me of a midweight Seal jacket I had that took a long time to show any wear but when it did, it was lovely. Very subtle lighter brown and red undertones.

I recently saw a programme about vegetable tanned shoe leather and it was a very organic (no pun intended) process which relied very much on the skill of the tanner. It also appeared to take a very long time, up to a year IIRC. Afterwards, I thought the Vicenza upcharge probably looked reasonable.

The photo's don't do that hide justice.... it's impossible unless you see it in the flesh. I think the jacket looks good on you... not too tight, not a strait jacket either... I think you did quite well.

Aye, looking at it today, no question about it, it's a perfect jacket. Super, do you plan on using the side adjusters?

That hide looks really nice. With regard to wearing your shirt out, I used to always wear mine out but decided to try tucking it in for awhile because of something I read here. After a few days I got used to it and rarely wear it out anymore. To each his own, though.
