Aero Leather new natural veg tanned Vicenza horsehide

I quite like it but I'd be cautious of wearing it with raw denim because it might get stained.

I'm observing this little trend for a while now, there's a rising count of manufacturers, mostly from Japan, offering this "natural" color and I'll be blunt; I would not wear a leather jacket this color, not even if it came for free. I think black and brown leather looks ten thousand times better.

This color makes fair-skinned people as most European and North-american people look pale, as it's a terrible contrast to your skin. Then, this color is prone to showing any dirt and stains, a jacket made from this stuff will look dirty all the time.

If anyone wants to call that patina, I'm not gonna mind, but I'm leaving out this trend. The whole point of the color is to show as much wear as quickly as possible to re-create a time-worn look, to the edge of worn-out and that actually offends me. These rich, japanese hipster kids in their thousands of dollars repro clothing and dozens of leather jackets trying to imitate the look of poor people who can't afford new stuff like it's a cool thing to be poor now. It's fckn absurd.

In fairness, it's not a new trend- many examples of this natural tanned hide can be found on 20s-40s leather jackets; and most often times on civilian cossack/A1/blousons such as Aero's offering

I plan on ordering a jacket in this hide and I do know what you mean. However, I just like the color (s). Nothing to do with the fading process. I wasn't even considering Vicenza in part due to its upcharge, but when I saw this color I changed my mind.

I am partial to the overall look of this jacket posted on Aero's Instagram too but think russet brown is probably as light in color as I would want for myself, probably to a great extent for the reasons described by @jacketjunkie.

It's similar to raw denim in that the leather will take on a patina that is personalized to you. It definitely won't remain 'natural' looking for very long.

I like the color: brought myself a jacket in this color about 10 or 12 years ago a lamb skin Dolice Gabbanna only wear it for dress occasions were the leather does not get dirty still looking OK

To me it's a very pure, clean and honest color. Removing the dye is what makes it so desirable and unique. Reminds me of what a Native American would have crafted a jacket from. There's no attempt to cover, color or synthesize something that isn't there. In other words...it's totally badass. Although I have to say if it were the heavier CXL I'd be all the more in love with it.

Agreed and I think that's the whole point. It becomes what you make of it. Treat it with extreme care and you'll have a beautiful beige jacket. Wear the piss out of it and it's as unique as your fingerprint.

I agree that this color has a tendency to pick up a dirty appearance in the creases and grain of a jacket, where a smooth natural hide belt or billfold gains a more uniform darker burnished and polished-like finish as it wears. I'm not saying that is necessarily an undesirable patina on a leather jacket but it does stand out compared to darker hides.

Exactly what I was going to say. But I wonder if that would be more suited to people who put a jacket to hard use quickly, like those of us who ride. Six months of daily riding in that jacket, and it would start to look like that Tanner Goods belt. A year or two, and it would look amazing. I'd be tempted by a Cafe Racer in "Natural" veg tan.

There is a Menlo jacket on Ebay that has been there forever(2000€) that might have looked like this one when it was brand new:

Here we have another Cossack jacket from the same era:

The Mister Freedom Campus jacket it's actually the one more similar to the first menlo in style because it's also unlined and it was inspired by it but most of the ones I see end up being orange with time. One of the reasons might be that people use oils on their jackets and as a result they get that orange shade. I'm not a fan of this orange colour to be honest

Most of the Natural Leather jackets I've seen are mostly worn by denim fans and they get stained everywhere, specially the MF Campus because it is unlined. I would not be able to stand those blue stains all over the jacket. If someone decides to wear it with a more dressy style and not with denim this would not happen and it wouldn't reach that beaten up look some people love.

Aero Leather Natural Veg tanned Vicenza seems to be a darker shade. I'm thinking of a Sea Biscuit jacket in this leather... and talking about Sea Biscuit:

This looks very similar in colour to the one from Aero Leather and I think it looks great. If you treat the jacket with enough care you won't look like a homeless or someone from a Mad Max movie.

I really think if you go with this hide you're literally opting for a second skin. And as such, the care, or lack there of, you give it, determines how that skin takes form. I'm not put off in the least by beat to shit, dirty looking, rode hard leathers. They have their place. I think this hide gives the wearer a very unique opportunity to make something totally their own. I think that's cool! If I bought a jacket in this hide I'd be looking forward to all the character I'd give it. Here's my life... On display...in my jacket. If there's a CXL version on the horizon...I'm in!

I think you need a fair amount of self confidence to wear a jacket like that. I often feel quite self conscious in my regular brown & russet hides let alone one in cream/sandy colour.
