Aero interior pocket

Oh yeah, if a jacket one I’ll use it, if it has two I’ll use both. Just a bit concerned about the rectangle showing through eventually from the photos I’ve seen!

Hey Zakalwe:
Greetings and welcome to the lounge.
My take on this issue is simple.
I like to have both hands free as much as possible in life.
When concerned about how it looks, i much prefer a little pocket print then to see my hands full of what should be in my pockets.
I recall when Levis finally put inside pockets in their truckers. I felt like i had been shorted something in life all those years doing without.
Again welcome.

Ps: happy medium...get pockets, don’t use them=no print, but there if ya need em.

Also depends a lot on the hide thickness and color of the leather. The Stuart I just picked up has two and I have zero fear of them printingbthe jackets exterior and they are awfully convenient. I would not spec them on anything other than black cxl though.

I am a big believer in inside pockets, for my glasses when I’m not using them, cell phone, etc. I have an inside horizontal pocket on my Aero Bootlegger (Cordovan CXL FQHH) and I don’t see any print through after 2.5 years of heavy wear. If I were you I would spec the pocket and risk the print.

Thank you everyone for the input, think I’ll add some inside pockets to the order. Now back to fretting over sizing

Hi folks, thought I’d resurrect this thread rather than start a new one - I’ve been reading over the forum recently as I’ve placed an order for my first Aero jacket, a Board Racer in FQHH. I use internal pockets on most jackets I own, but I understand it’s not fully desirable on a slim jacket likecthe BR and I’m willing to forgo them. I just wondered how usable the front chest pockets are; are they deep enough to actually put a thin wallet or passport in from time to time, or are they more for show?

Cheers!

I have a blue vicenza board racer. It fits like a glove (well, a shirt ;-) ) and is very very trim fitting. I am a 40 and a 42 would have been more appropriate. Nevertheless it's a great jacket.
It was a custom order and I asked for two chest pockets and two inside pockets.
Problem : it adds a few layers to the chest area at the same place. The inside pockets are really well designed but they had a lot of thickness. If I had to redesign my order : I would ask to aero to sew a fabric pocket on the liner, just below the ribs...

The chest pockets are ok for a small smartphone (IPhone 5 / SE) or a credit card holder...

Interesting, I didn’t know they’d do patch pockets on the lining as they aren’t on the website as far as I can see.

Funny you should mention sizing, im wondering about whether I need to go up one also. I’m slim, and I want a slim jacket, but I’ve also got fairly broad shoulders. 6’0”, 38” chest, and measuring a jacket that fits pretty well it’s 18” across the shoulder. I found some measurements here of the 38 and 40 BR and wondering if a 40 would be better for me than the 38 I’ve ordered..

I would never want a patch pocket on the inside, as with any weight in them, over time they tend to sag the lining. They also need to be deep and/or fastened to keep things safe - the one in my Schott 618 I would never trust with anything.

I have in the past had two inside pockets or one in an Aero; for me, the best combination is one inside pocket. I need my phone somewhere other than my trousers, and I prefer not to have my wallet in my trouser pocket either. My HWM is standard, no interior pocket. If I'm not carrying much, or have a bag, it's grand. Inside pockets will always show through eventually a bit, and if you always carry a phone in a neat fitting jacket you may see the same sort of spot there as you do in jeans on a back pocket that is always used for a phone or a wallet. Doesn't bother me, but it's all subjective aesthetic tastes: I wouldn't buy a teacore jacket or boots. A bike jacket I wouldn't feel the need or it, possibly not on another Bootlegger, but those have a lovely deep chest pocket on the outside, so. I find the usual, smaller chest zips you get on a halfbelt do't cope with much, but don't forget you're dealing with a design from the days before everyone carried big wallets, cards, phones, travel cards, mp3 players.....
