Aero Halfbelt - Help identifying steerhide

Hi all,

I recently acquired this used Aero Halfbelt from eBay and wanted to see if anyone here can identify what type of steerhide it is. The steerhide on this jacket feels just as thick as my Aero Cafe Racer CXL FQHH which makes me think this Halfbelt is a Chromexcel Steerhide. What are your thoughts?

Actually I noticed that at the edges of the cuffs and bottom of the jacket it is grey where the black has worn off. It is my understanding that all horween chromexcel leathers are teacore (brown under the black), is this correct?
