Having a full action back rather than just the shoulder gussets on a CR seems to fix the issue on having too much excess leather on the back or at least it has on the CR i have.

Souunds like a BR Sheene, nice.
I'd also recommend flipping the back configuration so that you have an upper yoke instead of the lower kidney panel FWIW.

Interesting.Can please you explain why the preference for upper yoke vs. lower kidney panel? I've been debating on which direction to go for my future BR. I like the looks of the lower panel but if upper yoke is more functional, then I'd lean towards that. Thank you!

I don't ride, so for me it's purely aesthetics. On a bike, and for short vintage cross-zips I like a kidney panel. There is probably some reason they exist (protection, etc).

For a casual/ simple jacket like a Sheene, I prefer the balance of an upper yoke that accentuates the shoulders.

The BR is a pretty straight cut (shoulder to waist). To me, the kidney panel emphasizes ones hips and arse if not actually up at the "true waist" or above the hips.

bottom heavy isn't a look I'd prefer- especially if I was under 5'9.
Just my opinion of course.

Did you size up from a cafe racer to a board racer or choose the same size?
I am considering a sheene and a Buco J-100 from Aero based on the Board Racer pattern.

My cafe racer is a size 40.

Should i size up or ad '1 inch to the side panels?

I am afraid when sizing up the shoulders are to wide.

I sized up from 42 to 44 and found the shoulders fit very similar between a 42 Cafe Racer and 44 Board Racer. I owned a 42 Board Racer and the fit was just too tight all the way around, while the 44 feels great while still being trim.
