Picked up a Majestic and a Cheyenne and am very happy with both. I was previously considering a Barnstormer but, though they are very nice coats, I think the lack of belt (and fact it is single breasted) makes the Cheyenne a lot more versatile.

The Majestic is great too, though I do wish it had been made with the Universal zip. Just feels like a matter of time until it breaks.

Having owned a Cheyenne for 20 years, I can say you purchased one of THE great leather jackets made on this planet. I loved mine, and hope its new owner on this forum enjoys it for many decades as well.

I did — and impulse‑bought three jackets:

  • Badalassi Premier Highwayman
  • Pinnacle Cognac College Jacket
  • CXL FQHH Natural Sheene
I'm underwhelmed by the Pinnacle’s leather thickness, and at the same time overwhelmed by the Sheene (it’s my first brand‑new CXL FQHH).

Isn’t that the point of the Pinnacle, to be a lighter-weight, more comfortable alternative to the HH?

Unfortunately I don't own either so can't compare. It's thinner than my Vicenza.
Actually this particular jacket of mine is Apprentice made, so might be they choose a thinner cut to make it.

Oh that’s interesting to know. I don’t have either Pinnacle or Vicenza, but I thought they were supposed to be similar thickness. I suppose there is always some variation though.

Received the below reply from Aero:

Pinnacle is completely different to our chrome excel leathers - it has a very soft feel and drape , which makes it feel thin but in reality it isn’t much thinner. It’s a misconception that all horsehide is thick, heavy and stiff, that simply isn’t true it is all down to how the tannery produce it. Although Pinnacle and CXFQHH come from same tannery they are complete different products . There are many light weight soft horsehides available.

The leather used on your jacket is very typical of regular Pinnacle in terms of weight and softness, it may just have a bit mismatched grain or marks on it, as this is an apprentice jacket sold at bargain prices.

There should be no worry about durability on any leather used by Aero, even our lighter leathers are going to outlast the owner, and night and day different to what’s found on the high street/from ‘fashion’ brands.

Pinnacle won’t have the same resistance to weather or abrasion as CXFQHH due to the way it is tanned it has a more open surface and not the same wax content so rain won’t bead up and roll off like CXFQHH it is more likely to soak in, and on Cognac it may leave spot marks in light rain (but these should even out after a proper wetting) but rain won’t do it harm. It’s vital, that like any leather if it gets a soaking it is important to dry naturally at room temp and not in front of a heat source as this can cause shrinkage.

I hope this helps?

Thanks

Holly
