Yeah, it looks like Dec 07 is the month that still refuses to die....well, in terms of Steve's hat orders. He's been on those hats for a while now! As I understand it though, after he gets through Dec 07, the wait times for everyone else behind should start to pick up. Steve's said that he didn't have a whole lot of orders through 08.

Now that you mention it, I think that's when the price increase (to $350 I believe, before the big $650) happened, so everyone ordered them.

I'm just hoping he'll take a nice break when it's all done.

Still waiting for mine to show up. I placed my order on March 11, 2008. I just sent Steve another email. The last I heard I was going to receive mine this summer, but nothing yet. I'm glad I bought the Akubras a while back to tide me over.

I ordered mine in February 2008. Steve responded last October and told me I was still in the queue, so I just send him a note from time to time, so he knows I am still waiting patiently.

Are you guys serious? Is the wait really that long? Good things come those who wait, so I've been told, but that sure seems like a very long wait ........ Wow!!!

Steve made the mistake of leaving his prices at $250 even after he got the Crystal Skull deal. As a result, he got an unbelievably large number of orders in the weeks and months following the premier of Indy IV - then, when there was no end in sight for the orders, he raised the prices in order to cut down on the lead time. He's still trying to dig himself out from all the orders, although he's getting close. That's why the wait is so long, OT1899. -M

I guess you would call that a case of being "too successful" ... good for him ... given current economic conditions, I suppose that may be a nice problem to have!?! Thanks for clarifying as I was not aware of the details.

It's also worth noting that Steve posted a month or two ago on Club Obi Wan that he had some health problems that slowed his work down some. He definitely did not anticipate the lead time for newer orders to be this long. I ordered June 09 before the price went to $650, and he thought at that time the wait would be about a year.

Erik - I'm in the same boat as you. Dec 07. He had mentioned in September he'd have it for Halloween.
I hope the guy isn't working himself sick or something like that! The pressures of success!

This is the first time I've seen this thread and I am in awe of how long you all have waited for one of Steve's hats! :eeek: I am also amazed at the price! I had a hat made by Steve that I ordered in Oct. of 05' and received in Dec. of 05'. It's my favorite and most worn hat in my collection. He is a no b.s. guy to work with (unlike other hatters I've dealt with) I paid $265 for a full beaver hat made to my measurements. Times have changed in just a few years.

I just got word yesterday that my hat will ship tomorrow. I think it's the most excited I've been in a while!!

Just over 3 years. Mwuuhahaha.

Bebop - I should have ordered before the Crystal Skull rush. I procrastinated too long. But hey, I'm just excited. Since I paid for it, my hat almost tripled in value. :)

You should post the date that you ordered so others can put their order in perspective.

Wow . . . so Steve Delk is stilll making hats.

I have been waiting over three years for my AB . . .
Since cutomer service is appalling . . . and I hardly ever hear anything back from repeated attempts to contact . . .
I figured he had picked my pocket and run.

In the last couple of years I have had some bad times . . . money is tight . . . real tight. One reason I haven't posted anything of late.
I wish I had sent the money I sent for an AB to Art Fawcett.
Then I would have something good to show for it.

But maybe . . . just maybe . . . I will get an AB yet.
If I do . . . and I am not convinced I will ever see the hat I paid for . . . I am sure that the aggravation and disappointment I feel at the way I have been treated will reduce any excitement I might have once had about owning an AB.

Exactly why I will never order a custom hat from anyone. I just see no reason to wait this long when in that amount of time you are likely to find one similar to your order on ebay or some other auction site... or even here in the classifieds section, for that matter.
