Hi All,

I've just received some footage from my failed History Channel pilot, but there are lots of fantastic shots of my Byrd Aero. I'm going to edit the best scenes together and post it on youtube soon. I'll post a link here when it's ready. I will also be appearing on How Stuff Works- Steel on the Discovery Channel Feb. 12th at 8:00 eastern. Sorry I'm sans Aero in this one. It was filmed during the Tennessee summer.

Cheers,

Well Lads,

The Steel episode has been moved yet again. I will not post any more announcements about air times until it actually shows. It will be shown for two nights so I'll post after the first showing.

Cheers,
Fuad

This Lounge is killing me. Now I am starting to have secong thoughts about ordering a Long Half-Belt. The Byrd jacket is "dressier" but still extremely rugged looking. And I am NOT going to order both.

Beautiful jackets, guys. Milu thanks for those pics.. I have a Long Half Belt on order in vintage cordovan so I really enjoyed the quality of your pictures.

Fuad.. great pics, very cool. Awesome jacket and you can't beat a good pair of Wesco boots!

Great looking jacket Milu!

I am still enjoying mine thoroughly. I am thinking about getting one made out of goatskin too. The button cuffs are a good idea, although I'm considering zippered cuffs with longer sleeves. The actual zipper needs to be shortened too. Mine extends down past the belt and it makes sitting in a car with it zipped up a little uncomfortable. I'm posting a video that I put together of some T.V. work I've done, and in the last scene I'm wearing the Admiral.

Have fun watching!

This jacket's been on my mind recently. I think it resurfaced while watching Up, the recent Pixar movie, which features a character called Charles Muntz, an intrepid airman-explorer, and psychopath.

I was thinking of an alternative Admiral Byrd with two rows of leather buttons, placed quite close together, with a mouton collar.

Perhaps a Lounger who's wealthier and more adventurous than me will have one made and post photos showing how great it looks. :)

Byrd or Barnstormer?

I am thinking the buttoned double breasted front on the Barnstormer has it over the zipper on the Byrd (though evidently Byrd himself liked the zipper).

You could also leave the bottom button undone for driving on the Barnstormer, but I think it just has a more classic look.

I would prefer the buttons myself, though for driving/sitting comfort, a double-ended zip could achieve the same goal. I'm sure Aero could fit one of those.

I'd really like to see this one in the April line-up. It would be a great addition to the Aero range - hope the Calders have pre-empted me. They'd sell a load of these, I reckon.

Any takers?

Alexander Leathers should have remembered this one and included this one in their first showing.

Cord ... They produce this model for Ken Taurus in Germany. Here's the link to Ken Taurus' Aero page: http://www.kentaurus.de/produkte/aero-lederjacken/page.html . It's the first one in the fourth row.

Enjoy!!!!!

I suppose so. OP's video of him wearing it shows it being worn for hard work, and it doesn't seem to bother him.

Mid-weight would be good on this coat. The front quarter horse I had a while back was too heavy and stiff for me. I sold it on and although it looks great with a few years' wear, it just doesn't move enough for me. I guess that's the point of the gusseted back, but even so...
