A REAL Fedora Lounge?

Hi ArrowCollarMan,

Yes, in reality a dress code would probably kill any long term success
with a real life Fedora Lounge. If this web page was also total 1940's thread count requirement it would be a very lonely :( web site.

You folks aren't thinking like Yankee traders while you lament the lack of appropriately dressed patrons. Just set up a small vintage clothing shop next to each Fedora Lounge, stocked with both originals and reproductions. ;)

This is something that occurred to me, as well as an 80's cafe, similar to what you see in Back To The Future. It's definetely possible, and a great idea, just a matter of someone being able to pony up the money to start the joint.

Yanks like to make Franc's

Story, patrons to the Fedora Lounge would get a small discount for purchases made at the adjacent vintage clothing store. Good idea!

Morning Strider,

With MK publishing his upcoming Style Magazine there's got to be someone that
would be interested in buying into a Fedora Lounge franchise :D

Drive-In or Standard ???

Do we want a Drive-In or a Standard Sit-Down ?

If it's a Drive-In do the Waiters/Waitresses wear RollerSkates ?

With the possibilties of a "Chain" what would the standard building look like...Checkered Floor ? Etc.

I think a sit-down place would be better. It would most likely be an adult-oriented joint so its most likely a bar, hence the name "Fedora Lounge". Could be booths, maybe some couches and a small stage for entertainment. The big pull to the joint would be the ability to wear vintage clothes and a vintage car drive-in would probably bring in lots of people as they usually do. A vintage clothing store next to the place isn't a bad idea a-tall.

Clothes...

How about Rentals ?

I remember watching an old film where the Gentleman didn't have the appropriate Jacket for the "Club" so he had to rent one from the Coat Closet.

Now that I think about it, it may have been a "Smoking Jacket".

Phones

Suggestion J M Stovall,

!. No, cell phones can be dsiplayed/used in public hence the phone booths.

2. Lets make sure those booths have the wire mesh in the glass

We already have a real Fedora Lounge in Los Angeles. It's called The Derby. Matt Deckard, Wild Root, Trickeration, Marc Chevalier and other L.A. FLrs are regulars there.

Here is how it used to look in the 1940s. It hasn't changed all that much since then:

And here is the interior. Its oval-shaped bar was in the '40s film , Mildred Pierce, starring Joan Crawford. Crawford's character spent a good amount of time at that bar ... and so do some of the Fedora Loungers! (I won't say who.)

Now, really, Veronica

You should know the difference between a derby and a fedora by now. [huge laughing smiley face holding its side and slapping its knee]

Well Ty It's abouttme you did mage it.
Tonight at Rusty's Rhythm club is where I'm going tonight. Not a Fedora Lounge, though they have dancing and skirts.

It hink the ferver of the Lounge is going to grow... I don't think our scene is big enough to keep a real place open as of yet, though the concept is interesrting. I wouldn't want any affected looking pics of people it fake poses on the walls... woulen't want to corner the idea by making too manly of a club with dear heads and shelves full of books ojn the sides... Deco is good, though sometimes too cold. hmmm

Have to think.

Someday maybe.

That's why it couldn't be a private members club, not enough people to keep it in business yet. So instead why not start with an open to the public bar and restaurant, themed properly (and with Story's vintage shop next door :) ), and a private members club at the back, or side, or front, where FL members and our ilk can congregate. Once it takes off you can franchise both the club part and the themed bar part separately or together. :)
