Good to hear that. Does Pay Pal give an option of bank transfer or credit card? I thought the amount was automatically taken from the checking account, and if not enough money there, then the CC would be charged?
I have my TD account (checking) tied to Paypal. If there are not enough funds available, it uses the credit card I registered. I can also just choose the CC under funds (change) when paying. And you can also have a "Back Up Source" - being a CC or whatever. All are selectable at checkout when sending funds.

I just bought a jacket from Scott( Butte) and couldn't be more satisfied. He's a straight shooter so stifle the BS. BTW, I also just bought a jacket from Amanda at Aero, before i knew about Aero usa imploding, as I have done in the past. Always figured it better to cut out the middle man when you can deal with the source just as easily, if not easier. Whatever it is, it is.

Peacoat, they do have the option to switch payment sources, but it is VERY well hidden in the checkout process. I believe the default payment method is your account, if you have funds in it (which I refuse to do), after that the confirmed bank account you have linked to Paypal.

To those who are still having problems with bank refunds...

I opened a transaction dispute online (this might be better than calling them or going in to a branch). I made it quite clear that I though that I had been a victim of deception/fraud. The bank called me back and i explained the situation to them....I had e-mail correspondence (I wasn't asked to produce them) with Mark in which he lied to me about the status of my order. I even have an email asking for a refund (he assured me that wasn't necessary because my jacket would arrive within days). If you don't have such emails, maybe you could even point them to these forums for evidence of what was going on.

I don't know much about this stuff but maybe you need to make sure that your bank knows that you are a victim and not just an unlucky customer. They might ask why it has taken so long to open a dispute. I was expecting a wait of 6 months or so. My first inquiry was after about 8 months, so that's not unreasonable. I then got deceived by Mark for a further 4 months until he went out of business.

I hope this helps. There must be other members that know more about this stuff than me!! Come on chaps!! Stop debating criminality and replying to that Red Baron prat and help those who are still out of pocket.......

I have always used my credit card when paying for things I buy on Ebay. When you log into your paypal account to checkout and make payment you have to check a box that switches the payment to your credit card. You have to find where it says "options" it will then bring up the box that allows you to make the change. It is rather small and you have to really look for it, but it is there.
When you get the reciept it will say "This charge will appear on your credit card statement as "PAYPAL".

I ordered my jacket from Mark Moye in December of last year by using PayPal's Bill Me Later credit plan. I'm scheduled to begin payments for my purchase in May.

Is there any recourse for someone in my situation, other than hoping for some mercy from PayPal?

Hit him with paypal seller non-performance and don't start paying. He is no longer trading so can't send your goods so he can't say anything.

I have only just seen that implications of it if you are an american and have to give them part of your social security number so they can screw you later,bill me later is owned by ebay yet no doubt they will try arguing that they have no relationship directly i still wouldn't intend paying for something that i knew wasn't going to ever turn up, but then I wouldn't sign up for that "service" paying 20% to some company that gives no consumer protection, why not just save up for something.

I almost hesitate to post this, as I know that many out there may not ever see their money returned to them. But to those still trying every avenue, don't give up if it's worth it to you. I don't make $830.00 an hour, so it has been worth my time.

So, to the point: I woke up this sunny Saturday morning to see that after dealing with this problem every day since last Sunday, my money has been refunded by my bank and Visa.

But(!), this comes with a CAVEAT! Your refund typically precedes the actual negotiations with the offending parties. I beseech you not to run out and excitedly spend the credit. Sit on it like you're hatching an egg.

However, with the amount of documentation I had, I am hopeful that I will not see this nightmare return to me.

Even though I have lost a little (more) faith in people after this, many here that were helpful with advice or just concerned restored a little of it back. Without this site, I never would have known there was a problem, so a hearty "Thank You" is owed to everyone here, irregardless of the outcome!

For my clarification , when you state that your bank & Visa refunded your money !
When you placed your order & deposited the money to the seller , did the bank keep your money (safe guard) until the transaction was completed ?
Or did the bank retrieved the money from the seller ? If possible , what was the process for you to successfully get your refund ? I don't mean to
ask for personal details , just the steps to follow up . Thanks.

I absolutely don't mind, 2Jakes! Hopefully I can be of some help to you, as others have been to me.

I paid in full through PayPal using my linked Visa. When I discovered that Aero USA had gone under, I immediately sent e-mails to the Aero Factory and Aero USA to establish that the order was nonexistent and that there was going to be no reply from Mark.

Next, I printed out a copy of my Visa payment to PayPal by going into the archives. I physically walked into a bank and talked to a service agent. She tried to say that I had no case due to the lapsed time, but I firmly, yet kindly, explained my case and all extenuating circumstances. She agreed to send my dispute to member services. An agent would contact me in 48 hours.

When I did receive a call from member services, she asked for any documentation I might have to strengthen my case, as I had stated in my dispute paperwork that I did.
I sent a link to this thread and every e-mail between me, Mark and Holly at Aero.

Three days later, voila, refund in hand. So to speak. Hope some of that is helpful.

Thanks, moderators. This thread is a real mixture of stuff to deal with, and I'm sure it would be easiest to just shut it down.
