A hat contest

OK, heres the deal. Mike Moore of Buckarro Hatters made a fedora to give to one of us at the Memphis meeting.
All of us loved the look and feel of the hat and loved the bound edge, to me it has a kind of Stetson Playboy look to it.
At the get together we decided instead to give the hat to someone here on the lounge.
So the rules we came up with are..
1. it has to be someone that the hat will fit .. a size 7 38
2. we would like it to be a newer member.say joined no more than 2 months ago
3. the winner would need to write a few lines about why they would like the hat.
4. I will take the top 4 and get someone not connected to me, Mike or any of the Memphis mafia to pick the top winner.
Those that are interested please drop me a PM and I hope to have a winner picked by next week.
To give enough time the deadline shall be next Wednesday and hopefully the hat can be shipped by Friday.

Is it a one-of-a-kind? Does Mike have a name for that hat?
Perhaps, you would be kind enough to share the details of that hat with us....color, brim size, ribbon etc.

I call it the "Peabody" because that is the grand ole hotel we were all at in Memphis.

I'll let Rusty tell all about the hat, height and so on. it is a dress weight 100% beaver.

Why don't you set it up so that the winner agrees to pass it down to a new member after say a year; by then they should be more intwined with the community and it could go to someone fresh, in sort of a passing of the flame ceremony and such

Not like the travelling hat so much, more longterm, meant to introduce new members. Just a thought!

just a little under 4 inch front pinch

Yes, I am drooling on my keyboard

I was going to play around in photoshop with the image and see if I could "try it on virtually" (wow, if some vendor could do something like that can you imagine the traffic that would drive... <G>) but the images of the hat aren't at the right angle to do that.

It is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS hat!!!

I love it! I can wear a 7 3/8 and that brim would work be PERFECT for me as well!! I have been wanting a hat with a wider brim and also in a lighter shade like this one!!!

I might fit the time frame but I would prefer to nominate onlyoneintown he is new, young and as he is going to school full time so is short on funds. He and his girl friend attended the So Cal Backyard party, their first FL function

He and his GF are really nice and the type of members this board inspires.

I would call it silverbelly also, kinda like the ribbon and brim treatment on the O R's, it all matches.
