I bought this hat thinking it would be good for working around the house. It was listed as a 7 1/8 but it is more like a 7 3/8". So my error is your gain.

Crown: 4" all around

The sweatband is 8 x 6 1/2". So it may work for a 7 1/4 but by the way it fits my head I would say it would be a loose 7 1/4 or snug 7 3/8.
