It's a baby armadillo! There are some more shots of baby armadillos at Zooborns. That one's probably really young- armadillos start to "firm up" as they age.

I had fogotten about people eating the armadillo back then.
He must have been really bad then. Santa had him on his naughty list. Into the sleigh.

Armadillos are just possums who've been mugged.

Armadillo is a Possum on the half-shell.

I've never eaten possum or armadillo, but Dad said possum tasted like chicken leg (dark meat) soaked in grease and deep fat fried.
