But its summer material so It doesn't equal to making it warmer.
The cloth already is made to keep you cool, so if you double it it just becomes a slightly more on the regular everyday cloth.
In winter you double a thick wool over you and yes it keep you warmer. but I don't believe it applies as much on thin open weave summer fabrics.

OK, I'm just relating my experience and those of others I've talked to, tailors included. It hasn't stopped me from owning a few but I choose not to wear them on the hotter days.YMMV.....

Of course, it all depends on the temperature. What about an evening with a cooling breeze coming off the sea? The white double breasted would be perfect.

That's me settled: a white single breasted for daytime and a white double breasted for the evening!
