Okay, this morning I got my sweats from Aaron... so I decided to take the plunge .. took me most of the day a six-pack of Sam to start & finish the project ..

Remember that indigo blue Knox that I picked up from the Bay that Bolt said that would probably look good if I installed a silver ribbon on it...

anyway here's what I did .. pretty much step by step in between slugs of beer.. heh

First I steamed the bash out & removed the attached ribbon .. it was a burlap type thing... no pics of that

supplies & hat, I reused the lining after ironing it ..

then started the swirling & pleating of the ribbon, that took a while .. then made the bow

sized & tacked the the sweat for installation

sewed in the liner .. and attached the ribbon .. by then I was kinda drunk and neglected to take pictures of that process...

Pics of the hat will be in the next post because there was a limit of how many I could use per post ... that included smilies also... who would have thunk [insert angry smilie here]

Thanks, I really enjoyed working on this one... wetting the whole finished ribbon with cold water then letting it air dry does tighten it up a bit more ... thanks for that tip, Bolt... that's a good one!:eusa_clap

Hats off to you!

That looks great Wil, you must have the knack for it. I just tried to resew a small section of a sweatband on a old Champ of mine... lets just say I'm going to post pictures of it. Either you have or you don't I guess. You my friend have it!
Again great job.

oops typo

Sorry Wil you won't find any posts on my champ. I meant to say "I,m not going to post pics.:eusa_doh: One little word omitted made a big difference to my post. It was a rather difficult job that took me too long and the result was barley satisfactory. I'll probably re attempt it, looking at your DIY threads gives me a false sense of confidence lol
