+2. Wear it in good health.
This showed up from DelMonico today.
I got to my studio and it was there waiting for me.
The felt is gorgeous and clearly an upgrade from my modern Premier Strat.
Which is not a knock on the Premier but more a compliment to the Excellent.
It feels identical to my Strats from the mid 50s.
Not quite as soft and pliable as my 40s Strats.... But better than anything I personally have felt from modern manufacturers ... Not including custom hatters of course.
The color here looks darker than it is in person ... But I assure you the sage green is beautiful and perfectly even throughout and finished with that wonderful contrasting ribbon.
The liner is also very sharp and was a bonus for me because I was not expecting the black interior .
I love this hat already and I have not even bashed it yet.
I did put it on open crown and the fit is absolutely perfect .

thanks guys
I just got home from teaching in the studio all day ... looked at my passenger seat as I turned off the car in my driveway and realized that I left the Strat at the studio
I was so looking forward to steaming in a sweet bash and wearing it tomorrow ...
damn!!!! .... sometimes I'm in such a rush to get home that I would forget my head if it wasn't attached

Was not sure where to put this link. This is probably the reason the Stetson is getting better.
You'll have plenty of time to bash and many years of wearing it, but I know the feeling of forgetfulness. I still haven't creased my sage Excellent yet and I've had it a few months now.
Wear it in good health.
My Silver Mist model from 1995 or so looks just like that (except no medallion on the bow, and no feather any longer)! No but how about a Temple 7 1/4 in Light Grey. I hope this picture gives you a better idea of the color.

That's funny, we have an entire thread devoted to discussing how that article shows Stetson's impending decline. http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?83269-Stetson-Going-Hipster
I can't conceive...either you're really busy or have tremendous self discipline!

I just re-read Josh's post and report of the new Stetson Strat's. In my book his reputation proceeds him, but in this specific case his report is spot-on!
Moon; Love the pics. The show a fedora that can be worn proudly everyday! I just re-read Josh's post and report of the new Stetson Strat's. In my book his reputation proceeds him, but in this specific case his report is spot-on! When you get some time, would you comment as to how you see the hat being worn at your house? Your collection of Strat's puts you in a unique position to comment on the new Stetson Stratoliners.
Wouldn't it be interesting to get a Stetson take on this product? We would have to get a Stetson designer to comment on how the company views the product success or whether it meets market goals of being a tribute or a modern successor of the 1940-50's versions. Our, avid consumers on the Fedora Lounge, opinions aside, is the hat doing well? I need to move on from introspective world and go back to work.

That being said.......THIS HAT WILL FOREVER CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK OF MODERN FACTORY HATS
I could honestly go on and on about this new 2015 Stetson Excellent Quality. As many of the lounge members know, I have collected many vintage hats through the years and have had the opportunity of comparing many of them. This new Excellent Quality Stetson honestly could be confused for a vintage hat for many of the reasons I stated above. Matt Deckard and Hatco have done an EXCELLENT job in creating a hat that any "Golden Age" hat maker would be proud of. This hat is the BEST I have seen from any large Modern Hat factory and many customs as well. Before you buy another custom or before you buy another Akubra, Bailey, etc.........check out this new 2015 Stetson Excellent Quality. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
