That's funny that they also put 10 gallons of gasoline and 5 quarts of oil in the time capsule. I guess they thought we would probably all have nuclear powered flying cars by now and wouldn't be able to get any!lol

And with that car, 10 gallons would get you a spin around the block.

On another note I'm reminded of Back to the Future III, what with digging cars out of the desert and all...

This is my old home town...my mom still lives there. Sure wish I wasn't gonna be at training for the USAF, I'd love to go. Been hearing about this for 20 years

Some of the origional kiddo's that posed with the car are still around.

If anyone swings through the great plains let me know. I live three hours away but I always want to leave work.

Harp, How do you know OKC so well?

I found these statements quite charming:
"Plymouth was chosen because it was "an advanced product of American industrial ingenuity with the kind of lasting appeal that will still be in style 50 years from now."

"The contents of a women's purse, including bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes and an unpaid parking ticket, were added to the glove compartment of the car shortly before burial."
That sounds like the contents of my pocket book!:D  :D

A very ironic commentary of the times. I wonder if they thought things would be very different today?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
