Hats from the 30's are a lot rarer than hats from the 40's. Also 40 dollars for a 40's Dobb's is still like a bottom of the basement liquidation sale. I would like to be compensated for the true value( quality, labor, and scarcity) of the hat.

Is it a large 7 1/4 leaning towards 7 3/8 or is it a small 7 1/4? Could you also post a few pictures of the inside and the bow please?

This is a nice hat, maybe just the hat I am looking for, providing I can make my mind up for once.

Before I forget, how high is the crown? When the crease is popped out?

Honestly its a little snug 7 1/4. With just a little steam for half an hour you can size it up without almost no effort. You don't have to fix anything. The hat is 5 1/2 open crown. Please make up your mind for me this time. ;) lol hope this helps.

Is that an underwelt or a cav edge? Some more photos might help me make my mind up, but I like what I see so far. If sizing up half a size is as easy as that then maybe I won't be put off if it's a small 7 1/4, as I am between 7 1/4and 7 3/8. Hearing that it's an open crown makes me excited, especially 5 1/2" as that's what I'm after.

:eek:fftopic: question, but can straight sided hats be bashed to have a little bit of taper? With my long head shape I look bad if I don't have any taper at all.

And if I buy I will make my mind up this time. ;) If not I will send you the pistol which I am holding under my coat in my avatar so that you can punnish me for my unreliability.

The hat is creased and blocked in a teardrop. When put in an open crown it is 5 1/2 open.

The top looks like a cav edge as their is no stiching but when you turn the hat upside down there is 2 rows of stitching. Their is the slightest of taper at the top of the hat due to it being in rainstorm and lowering the crown after. Hope this helps.lol lol lol

Just wondering if you could post photos of the liner and sweatband?

All of the Dobbs I've seen with an underwelt were '50s or later, so if they did hidden-stitch underwelts in the '30s, I'd like to know about it.

Thanks,

Brad

It's too small for me, but the price is perfectly fine for a nice vintage hat.

I'd leap at the chance to buy one like it in my size.
