Vintage 1930s sleeveless black satin-backed crepe gown in a rare larger size. This lovely gown has amazing sheer crepe georgette kimono style scarfs on each shoulder. These drape to the side and to the back and form a kind of faux flowing cape. The bodice is gathered at the shoulder meaning there is room for a larger bust size. There is ruching down the centre with a sequined panel to highlight it. There are also sequined panels on the shoulder gathers. Very pretty indeed. There are no snaps or zips and the garment is pulled on over the head. The gown has some lovely, geometric panel work on the bodice in the back which forms a 'W' shape. On the inside of there is a small label saying '44' which I assume to be the bust size of the dress. The waist could be worn with a belt to give it a more fitted look or easily taken in as there is a lot if fabric to work with. Very elegant piece that wold not be out of place a cocktail party today.
