First post, after having been reading the forum for a while!

And apparently this is how pickpockets were trained. When the pickpocket touches the electric wiring, it triggers an alarm:

Last night, I watched Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. and the villain had a pretty interesting jazz (?) suit:

Buttons very close together with the top one being double (not sure what those are called?), slanted pockets.

The back had two frock coat-like buttons

It's interesting how "modern" my taste have become since becoming active on this site, with all the teens and 20s stuff that I now find interesting. Earlier I just wanted ~1890s suits.

Thanks! Yes, fantastic suit! Although I'm not really a fan of the more extreme 'jazz details' like the buttons THAT close together or the frock coat-back. The cut and the fabric on the other hand... Regarding fabric, I'm starting to really like the smooth, subtle stripe fabric, like on the Lon Chaney picture you posted, as well on this type of suit.

yes, they stray into vaudeville territory. perfect for a villain character like the above though.

I forgot to mention it but that is the jazz suit of the season in "Sherlock Jr", Exact same suit pictured a couple of posts back minus the vest.
The back doesn't have buttons it has decorative arrow shaped silk stitches to finish of two side box pleats that accentuate the skirt

I feel that most modern Double-Breasted suits would look much better and a little 1920s if they had the "lazy peaks", or peaks that were level to the ground and could almost look like notches, common in this era. They'd also need to have thicker wool, have higher pants, sporty features such as patch-pockets, a belted-back, bi-swing vents...
