My dad got me hooked on cornbread and buttermilk when I was about three years old. I ask for a side of buttermilk whenever my friends and I go to a place that'll serve cornbread; they think I'm crazy.
I'm also quite a fan of pinto beans and chow chow.
It's very funny that I happened to stumble onto this thread. I just finished off an old fashioned made with Jim Beam Rye with a couple of friends.
While I'm normally a scotch man, I do enjoy rye on occasion; it really mixes well.
It's liquid bread!
You know how some people have weird habits of mixing food? Like how Laverne & Shirley did milk & Pepsi?
I kid you not my roommate swears by dunking Oreos in his Guiness. He says it's delicious but I'm not ready yet to give it a try.
As much as I love those classic, inetellectual, heartfelt dramatic films that sweep the Oscars and delve into deep questions of humanity, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for those great science fiction films of the 50's and 60's.
You know the kind I mean, a giant radioactive...
I don't think they've completely disappeared but are definitely on their way out. I haven't used one in years, but I know you can still find them if you really want one.
The scene in the Three Stooges short, Men in Black (1934) where they operate on Dr. Graves, the superintident, always leaves me rolling around on the floor (I almost said in stitches, then realized it would have been a terrible pun).
Also, I don't think the scene in Back to the Future where...
I moved into a new apartment for the year with new roommates, cause my last one was a total slob, and we've made it our goal to keep our apartment as classy and formal as possible.
My buddy inherited a lot of furniture from his grandmother, so we have very nice matching side tables and lamps...
I think someone already mentioned disappearing pay phones, which makes me rather upset.
I've also noticed live commercials have become a thing of the past.
On Saturday mornings I'd always hop in my parents bed and turn on the tv, without fail, there'd always be about 3 or 4 different local...
... Beer me, Blazer.
Now that I got a little Andy Bernard out of my system, I have a fraternity brother who has taken to saying some phrase that's like "All t no shade" or something of the like. I have no idea what it means although he's tried explaining it on multiple occasions. Regardless...
I'm in complete agreeance with you there!
I've never had the opportunity to visit a good cigar bar, but I've heard some good stories about them.
Aside from an irish pub, there's nothing like a nice, dimly lit lounge with a live jazz quartet playing. It seems to make the whole evening better.
The Mist- usually I can't stand anything done by Stephen King, but I actually liked this one, especially cause of the kick-in-gut ending. Not that I normally like endings like that all the time, but you don't see it that often.
Bars like that can be awesome. You meet some really interesting people. There's a place here called the Barn. It's a bar... in a barn. Hence the name.
You will never find a more eclectic group to share a cheap brew with. And no matter if you're a regular or new, you're always everybody's best...
Sigourney Weaver signed on? I'd heard she wasn't gonna do it.
I grew up loving Ghostbusters, I'm not ashamed to admit I still have my old Ecto-1 and Firehouse playset from childhood. And having recently purchased the video game for XBox, it was like reliving a flipping awesome part of...
If I'm grilling out, especially a steak or burgers, I'll crank up some good rock n' roll, like Foreigner, Doobie Brothers, Charlie Daniels, etc.
If it's something a little nicer or for a date, like salmon, I'll put on some of Frank, Dean & Sammy.
I've always wondered this of folks, what kind of drinking atmosphere do you prefer, with what kind of drink, and why?
I've been to bars, clubs, lounges, etc. and I've gotta say that if I had to choose every time, I'd love a good, dark, Irish Pub with good music and a slightly noisy crowd. I'd...
