So that was why I couldn't find anything quickly about a tog. British slang. I'm in the USA, just a thick American who likes how Brits talk, but has no idea what most of it means.
A Canuck is Canadian slang for a Canadian, eh...
Center zip leather jackets indicate that you are a "square". Cross zips indicate that you are a rebel.
I had always been partial to the Schott Perfecto, with the shoulder epaulets and attached belt. For a couple of decades, that was my only leather jacket.
Then in the last couple of years...
I got a new Beck horsehide jacket from Legendary USA, called the 777. It's got a label on it "Northeaster Flying Togs". The first time I've ever heard of a flying tog. What exactly is a flying tog? I've searched on the internet, but only get stupid results, like articles about dogs flying on...
7-8 cross zips doesn't seem that many to me. I'm almost there me-self.
As for underlying reasons, well, all of us on here probably need psychiatric help. But seriously, manufacturers and sellers do some incredibly good job of advertising their wares. Seems almost every day I'm seeing some new...
I checked out the John Elliott site and found the jacket in question also. What a piece of crap! The model is wearing a jacket that looks at least three sizes too small. That jacket is also way too short for the model. He needs a "Long" size. If the manufacturer can't even dress their own model...
Yeah, I try to avoid letter size jackets. Cockpit USA recently had a real nice looking moto jacket that I wanted. Thought about it a long time, ended up passing on it because it comes only in letter sizes. And 900 bucks was too much of a risk for my taste.
Oh, it doesn't come in numbered sizes? Just letter generic sizes, eh? I think Monitor is right. A different size probably won't fit you better. The sleeves might be shorter or the chest might fit better, but something else might fit wrong. If I tried that on in a store, and that's what I saw in...
I think it's a size too big, but I can't say for sure because you haven't zipped it up. The sleeves look a touch long, although for motorcycle riding they should be a bit long, usually down to the mid-palm. This one comes down a bit longer than that though.
The upper chest near the armpits are...
I'm going to look at that black leather jacket more carefully and start looking around for one that might be similar. It looks kind of cool, at least I think so. Could wear it anywhere, date night, beater jacket. Looks relatively thin. Good during late spring, early fall.
You know, it's been a while since I watched the movie straight through. Looks like you're right, in the scene with the rich bitch team owner, Newman is wearing the brown jacket plus matching brown pants. So they probably had that jacket and pants made for him for this movie. Must have been...
"They favored a plastic-looking grain-corrected leather that I don't much care for."
Yeah, that might be why I thought the brown jacket looked a bit like vinyl. The movie was released in 1977, probably filmed in 1976.
Let me see if I can attach a link. Here is the brown one: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0076723/mediaviewer/rm3259249152/
And here is the black one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SLAP-SHOT-photo-PAUL-NEWMAN-STROTHER-MARTIN-original-color-lobby-still-HOCKEY-/310403460979?_ul=IN
And if the links don't...
Yeah, it was probably leather. But he plays a player/coach in a minor league hockey club in Charlestown. And lives in a very small apartment. So I take it he's not supposed to be a rich jock or anything like that. And the jacket looks a bit like vinyl, from the way it reflects light. Hard to...
Hello everyone. Joined this blog awhiles back. Lots of good info here about leather jackets. Already learned a great deal. Thumbs up to everyone here! This is my first post.
The other day it occurred to me to ask what is that brown/tan jacket that Paul Newman wore in the movie "Slap Shot"? He...
