I just received a pair of the ATF service shoe. Seems very nice and I've worn them only a couple days off and on to start breaking them in, which they have done nicely as they were very hard at first. The finish on the leather seems very sealed. So much so that it doesn't seem as though...
Hi-
How are the ATF service shoes holding up? Would you think I should put some mink oil on them right away or wear them around some. Seems the paint color or whatever it is would prevent anything from soaking in.
THanks,
Geoff
Old Thread, but there are so many posts here that its hard to search too specifically. At least for me.
Anyhow, the question...
How do you take care of these boots?
What's the mandatory minimum? Mink oil? Wax polish?

So rather than go back through 100+ pages here I can just ask...
How far can you stretch a felt hat? Reasonable to go from 7 3/8 to a 7/58?

Thanks
That sounds like something Juan would say over there at WWII Imp's.
I haven't got around to the order yet, so I may take your advice. Money is a little hard to come by at the moment too.

Thanks, you've made that easy then.
I particularly like your placement of the outfitters in regard to price.

At The Front = $110
What Price Glory = $130
Then there's Lost Batallions = $105
And
S&M Wholesale = $129
Thanks
So what's the consensus?
I have to post here because for the life of me I can't figure out how to search the Lounge with any success yet.

How much do you tip an artist?
I don't know how the whole thing works. I have two small ones and kind of guessed hoping not to piss the guys off. How much $ does the house take? How much is left for the artist? How much do you tip then? And if its the owner do you still tip? That would seem...
Water Decal anyone?
I think you're right and that's what I decided on. Bet you could find anything done at least once, but I want to be generic.
Found a water decal that goes on with some leather glue that looks original.
Saw someone selling New Old Stock water decals claimed from WWII so...

That is fascinating. Believe it or not, I was...
No Big Man, but your son sounds like a fine man raising fine kids.
I started to ramble too much and I know no-one would read if I did (too much).
My intention is to do the same with my kids as far as bringing the old shows around and that'll be what they watch. Bonanza, Rifleman, Palladin...

There have been a few Cowboy movies out there that have been AWESOME and well within tradition.
