Hey there,
I'm wanting to improve my leather knowledge, and got lost in the mountain of posts here: I usually like to lurk and make up my mind on my own, but for these two I cannot seem to understand the hype for both.
How would you compare Aero Connolly steerhide to Lost Worlds Chrome...
@MrProper could you further elaborate on the jacket you posted? What were its flaws, strength? What would you change if you had the chance? It's so unfortunate this didn't work out!
First of all,
Thank you so much for all of your inputs and suggestions, they have all been very helpful!
For context, I intend to use the jacket during colder autumn/winter days while commuting in public transportation, while going on a stroll in the city, going to the restaurant or at the bar...
Hello TFL,
I come to you folks for advice after scouring makers upon makers, second-hand marketplaces and Paris thrift stores.
Some of you may have seen me in the "ask a question get an answer" thread asking about a vintage heavy FQHH Grais with quilted lining in my quest for my winter/colder...
Does this seem like a genuine LW A-2 to you? I couldn't find this lining on his website, and the "lost world" tag instead of the JA Dubow one seems weird.
Also, would would you say about the leather if the jacket is indeed LW?
In France there is La Canadienne and Atelier Ohso that are reknown leather shops, the former being bigger (reseller of brands such as Schott made in USA) and the latter being a smaller shop sewing PN jackets for the French army
Hello Loungers,
I come again with a question:
Can anyone here identify this jacket? This seems to be an old discontinued Aero Jacket, possibly in 4oz black CXSH? Could this be a fake Aero?
The model seems to be some kind of hybrid between the Highwayman with 1950s flight jacket style pockets...
Thank you all for your informative inputs @tmitchell59 @Marc mndt @photo2u @Edward and @jeo (stunning jacket by the way )
Your video illustrates well what I am looking for, and I'll keep an eye out for such jackets on the vintage market!
Maybe a civilian rough wear if those exists?
It is definitely what I am guilty of hahaha! I am a rather young guy looking for hard wearing stuff that will last me till death since I despise fast fashion, so I guess this "the heavier the better" trend is the most common pitfall. Also I want to see how it evolves and ages, like my cordovan...
I also tend to agree with you! Although I am currently looking for "the thickest" back breaking heavy weight leather (kind of like Aero's CXL Steer or Lost Worlds') and am curious if such jacket would exist in the vintage market.
Also, are any of you familiar with the "AMC" brand?
Maybe this has been answered before but I couldn't find the answers after exploring several threads:
How would you compare a vintage leather brand like California Sportswear or Durable to today's brands?
Mid-rangers like Aero Leathers, SB, Cockpit USA or Schott (Perfecto label) or higher end...
Hey there @Carlos840 , I know I'm a bit late to the party so sorry for digging up this thread, but after 2-3 years of wear would you consider this jacket "practical"?
What I mean is, is there enough space for valuable items (phone, wallet and keys)? Can you comfortably go down well below...
Just bought an early "kindof A-2 style" Grais (40-50s?) in seemingly heavy Front Quarter Horsehide.
Wind flap, quilted lining, size 40, with the cargo pockets and handwarmers because I like'em.
Small hole in the left sleeve rib that I intend to have repaired.
Planning to use it as my cold...
I've pulled the trigger on the Grais one, mainly because the Cali Herc was about 2.5x time the price, which was okay by me to pay but since I prefer the overall military look of the Grais + cargo pockets w/ handwarmers, I went for it and took the gamble. Total cost is 130€, shipping included...
I live in France, North-Eastern part of the country. It is usually ranging from 13 to -5 C (53 to 23 F) during colder Fall days and Winter, which is when I intend to use the jacket (since I plan to use my High Notch during warmer days above 12 C).
As for the pockets, my only requirement is to be...
