Hi all.
I absolutely love the rust red knits found on Aero's 40-3875-P... I have one and the rust and jerky seal leather combination are wonderfully unique.
I have another jacket I need to replace the knits on and was wondering if anyone had any idea how to get just the rust knits.
I emailed...
Any gently-used B-6 or D-1 repros out there for sale? Size would be a 'long' 40 or a regular 42 at most.
I know this was a rare jacket to survive the war, and I find that they are rare for repros as well!
...A B-3 would be nice, but it really is perhaps a bit too bulky for what I need...
Prior U.S. Army active...armored. Currently, joint service ceremonial honor guard.
Shining shoes is a passion; Lincoln and cotton balls and water. Lots of small, circular motions with the wet cotton and wax, then repeat with a dry un-waxed ball.
I used to heat up the wax in the can, including...
Hello, all!
[[ an original posting about this jacket, and my sizing queries can be found here]]
My G&B A-2 is a Type 43, size 42, as can be read about here. My particular jacket's color is a lighter russet than the G&B Web site shows...you can view it below. It is a very good jacket, but my...
Had haggis for breakfast (!) one morning in Glen Nevis at a B&B...it was absolutely fantastic. I wouldn't've thought it a morning meal, but you know what? It works! Love it.
Andy Richards has it right: the Red Wing Iron Ranger is fantastic. I have a set that I have worn through and through. Excellent.
If you can believe it, I find myself wearing my brown Corcoran "jump" boots about 3 to 4 days per week when the weather is cold. Once broken in, they are perfect...
Excellent jacket and welcome!
As a former 1st Armored (before moving off to learn how to fly), that is quite a wonderful sight. What a treasure you have!
Sounds like a nice project. For $100, having sleeves and body work done is not bad at all. I had sleeve work done by a very down-to-earth Mom and Pop tailor around the corner, here, and for leather sleeve work it ran $50. I think that body work would run another $50 or so, therefore I think your...
Thank you indeed for the heads-up. On mine, the 19" shoulder width is exactly right...any smaller and it'd be a bind. Good point.
I know a few people looking for A-2s... I'll ask around and point 'em your way.
Regards.
Right you are, right you are.
Now that I think of it; that makes the MOST sense, ha!
Oh this weighs on the brain. No less than two A-2s and I'm still not quite happy. I'll run out of sheckles before I get the right one.
Or...maybe I just have to decide to -make- this one the right one. Hm.
Wup! Yep.. er hehe: yes, that is my pic above... thanks for referencing it! I posted it, but on another thread. Sorry and thanks, mate.
Yes, the sleeves hang fine when my arms are down, but ride up when elevated anywhere above, oh, 80 degrees or so.
The measurements, above, are for the jacket...
Very nice.
I think that those sleeves may be just 1" longer than my own G&B A2 (which I think needs another 1"). Here is a picture with measurements from seam-to-seam or seam-to-end of knit on my A2. Mine may be a little bit longer than yours, and is 22" armpit-to-armpit, zipped and flat...
I've put a thread out about sleeve lengths of A2s... However, just interested in this:
For the sleeves, what is your measure? Top of sleeve shoulder seam to end of leather (or end of cuff) and bottom (armpit seam) to end of cuff?
This looks like an excellent catch.
I have a wonderful Gibson and Barnes A-2 Horsehide in russet that is fantastic. I've worn it only about three times and it is "mint." The only problem (or maybe it is not a problem) is that the sleeve length seems to be a TAD short.
I've read the thread(s) regarding armpit holes (embiggening...
