Decided to throw a bid at this Cal. Hopefully sizing works out. The two vintage Cal-leather cafe racer jackets I've handled were awesome, but I've...
I don't hate them. The half-belt is a classic style, but I do have an Aero half-belt with nearly useless buckles that undo themselves like it's their job. Function over form is something I'd welcome in this case.
Ralph Pugh - 1941 cross-zip. Bit of a snug fit, but I think I can work with it. Really beautiful, thick leather with a lot of character in the form of grain and scars. Condition was pretty much immaculate, except for some holes in the handwarmer pockets that were easy enough to fix.
Ended up returning these, unfortunately. These were definitely closer to a 7D than an 8D - way too small. These were definitely horsehide, rather than hide with shell, but were clearly very high quality boots. Thick leather, fully lined, good build quality. Might be newer than 1950s, but...
They really do! I'm betting the leather uppers are just fine, but guessing that the biggest problem area will be the rubber sole and heel. Might be looking for resole services if I really dig this pair.
Wolverine Triple-Tanned Horsehide boots from the 50s. I have this pair on the way from ebay in size 8D. In their early years, Wolverine made work shoes from 'whole horserump', which includes the both the skin and shell layer. I'm not 100% sure this pair is horserump, but the pictures look...
I think you're right that this is meant to be more a car-coat, but 21 inches is still huge for a size 34, lol. I don't really see how that thin looking liner is going to take up a full two inches. If I allow full inch for the liner, its still big jacket that would have plenty of room for extra...
lol, that's probably an accurate assessment. I hear a lot of people report that the in-step on these is too small, and causes pain around the area of the main buckle. My pair has been fine in that respect for my feet, but they are generally uncomfortable, and I rarely wear them.
Yeah, I intend to get a beefier zipper. Not sure exactly how the damage happened - it might have gotten snagged going through a TSA check somehow. Put me in a real bad mood when I noticed it for the first time, lol.
Well, this happened to my beloved BK Duke jacket today. Zipper tape tore right next to the teeth - no patching that up. Does anybody have any recommendations for zipper replacement services in the US? I could source a replacement zipper and try to find a local tailor that would be willing to...
More or less posting this so people can admire the pretty pictures:

These run small. I have a similar jacket as size 36, and even that is a little snug (I...
Thanks for the info, that might help. I'm US-based, and I have used EMS and DHL in the past with Buyee in the past, and had no problems with surprise fees. I think this might be an issue with UPS and Fedex being real a-holes about charging extra fees just because they picked up the packages from...
I'll have to check From Japan out sometime. I've also used Buyee quite a bit with few problems, but it's hard to argue against better service with lower fees. The only major problems I've had shipping from Japan using proxy sites is from both UPS and Fedex scamming me by charging $60-80...
