For me, it was the specific combination of leather, color, and lining fabric in the style/pattern that I liked. I was absolutely not going to find that OTR.
The Vanson Mercury seems to be cut well for people with broader shoulders and slimmer waists.

I hate cross zips with a passion, but I know some of y'all like Natal.

It looks right to me. I had the same question with my recent custom Aero Seven purchase. It's just the cut and style of those jackets. They're more fitted and, as you said, cropped. That particular fit is new to me, but it's intentional. Nice job!
I was wondering how/why Aero is able to use the Buco label. I assumed that they had somehow purchased the rights to the name (or it had passed into the public domain), but I've never found an answer so far (by way of Google). Does anyone here know?
This model doesn't seem to get much love, and I guess the consensus is that the chest pockets sit strangely low. It's hard for me to make up my mind on that, as I've only seen a few pictures of this elusive beast. Can anyone post pics of the F IRL/in the wild? Thanks in advance.
That is way beyond my abilities, or inclinations. :-) I'm not handy, at all, so a project like that isn't even remotely a possibility for me. I do, however, admire those of you who are capable of such things.
I chose to go through Thurston Bros rather than directly through Aero because of their fitting process. Carrie was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and made the process much easier, in my opinion. She answered all of my questions and made good recommendations. I have nothing but good things...
