The neckline looks okay on me, I didn't have any problems with this pattern, and only had to make minor adjustments to the shoulders to get rid of slight gaping at the side, but it fitted me perfect everywhere else.
The ribbon is actually the tie for an open fronted red crinoline I made as I...
Yes, I cut two full circles (like a circle skirt) out of a yard then cut out circular holes in the middle of them large enough to go over my hips (they look like donuts). Then cut the rest into the 8 yard strips, I do the two layers separate (one circle + 1 ruffle + 3 ruffles + ribbon, then...
OMG!!!! Lucky girl, can I steal him, my Dad's hopeless at gifts, I swear he just uses my nearest petrol station :D
You will need to post some close ups so we can get a good look and get even more jealous!!!!!
Im glad you found it useful, it is increadibly easy, once you get going, but so boring to cut and sew, you just feel like you are sewing the same straight line forever, and yes you do feel like you may lose it but its so satisfying when you finish it and get it under a dress. I like your idea of...
I used this guide for mine http://www.pettipond.com/lon.htm however you may find it difficult getting net in 72" width. White cream peach and black are the only colours I have found so far in 72" So if you are looking for something more colourfull you may have to adjust the pattern for 54" width...
The person who writes this blog may be able to give you some info, there is an entry on post war japanese machines which she explains were made by the bucketload and are hard to trace info on, however she says most were based on some singer models so maybe if you can get hold of a simelar old...
I know, because it is so lush and soft, luckily I have scraps so I can test how it washes before I try to clean it, I think it might survive a cold wash hopefully, because the dress is so lovely to wear, and I can't afford a dry cleaners.. :eusa_doh:
goldwyn girl, I love the green two piece, argh now I need to sew something green!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Pink Dahlia I love that fabric, I have sewn that pattern myself and found it a nightmare to fit despite it saying it is easy on the pattern, your version is gorgeous, once I have finished the...
goldwyn girl, your dress is gorgeous and I LOVE the fabric. I have this pattern but have never made it as I am not sure how to solve the underwear problem bra wise. Does it have much support inside?
If my sewing skills were ten times better, I had more time and wouldn't get myself sued by Lutterloh that would be a nice idea. I understand the pain of trying to get good underwear though, What Katie did has stopped producing bras in my size which is a pain, i'd only managed to get one, which...
Yeh, I for a moment thought I would try it, until I remembered that there is no way ever on this planet that unless I dropped a few stone I could ever look that good in it. Nevertheless a girl can dream, maybe one day.....
I have made a few lutterloh patterns but not the ones shown. I made a couple of bras the other day which are in the "show us what you made" thread, but I do intend to make the green polka dot dress shown above soon, so I will post when I have finished.
I should have pointed out that I also made the dress form myself out of duct tape. I found the instructions on line, my partner spent ages wrapping me up like a mummy it was funny, but a total godsend for fitting, I just could't afford an expensive shop one. I would recommend it though it is...
