As usual, beautiful jacket! Design and fit are spot on. I expect you to be up on the 5* website as an inspiration for others to buy this jacket. Still trying to decide what my next 5* is going to be.

I had my jacket lined in black Rayon for use in spring/fall as well as winter. Tougher than silk, but still cool and smooth to slip on and off. Shawn can probably get anything you ask for. Just make sure you specify exactly what you want. Good luck.

The back length on this G1 looks perfect. As a flight jacket, my understanding is they are supposed to be a shorter jacket.

Beautiful jacket man! Love the shoulder gussets. I am planning to have them in my next jacket for the mobility. How is it working for you when you raise your arms?

Agreed - not sure how to remove it without making the shoulders too tight. Looking into gussets, bi-swing backs, and different shoulder structures to solve it on my next one. The leather is thick but elastic, so I am hoping it will mold better over time.

I'm lovin this goat. I already have an old A2 from the early '90s in seal that is still going strong, so I had to get a black racer. Next is a lighter brown trucker or something similar to one of your sickkkk half belts. Keep up the good work - every one of your designs is an inspiration man!

Actually, the sleeve length is perfect for when they are zipped up and my arms are up. When I unzip the sleeves, they do hang lower. My biggest issue is with raising or crossing my arms and the jacket getting too tight across my back. Not sure how to fix it, but I'm looking at bi-wing backs...

I thought I would update everyone on Cafe Racer I ended up getting from Fivestar. Black premium goat with modification to Seb's base J100 design (changed pockets mainly and adjusted size). No smell except the sweet smell of leather. I went with Shawn's recommendation for a 6 inch spread...

Probably should have used thumbnails. Anyways, I'm much happier with the fit and feel of the jacket after the alterations. Also, both sets of pics had the same thin sweater underneath. This CR was a pretty simple jacket though. Good luck altering yours if you go that route. It was worth it...

The alterations went well. I adjusted the waist in by 2 inches and the hem by 1 inch. Outdoor pics are before alteration and indoor pics are after alterations:

Interesting and noticed this selective criticism in other areas (boots...) as well. Hard to be objective when people get passionate. I really appreciate it when the experienced members (ton312, MrProper...) give their opinion, since they seem to have run the gauntlet with so many leather...

Considering the complexity of this jacket, I think it turned out fantastic. Even more credit goes to 'red devil' for being so ambitious and pushing the envelope with 5*. A local tailor should be able to tighten up the fit for you. I had a tailor taper my 5* Cafe Racer by 2 inches in the waist...

    Five Star Leather Jackets

Mine was $300 with custom sizing, additional inner pocket, elimination of upper two pockets, and addition of lower hand pockets. I took the basic cafe racer on his website and modified it, so just a modification of an existing design.

However, the workmanship (stitching, attention to detail, willingness to experiment with new designs...) is superb. Obviously the patterns need to mature, but considering this is a jacket made from pictures and email texts I consider it a great job. With the input from all the FL members and...

That leather/color combo is stunning! It obviously fits you perfectly. I don't think I could pull it off, but you are rockin it. Talk to me about the arm structure - you mentioned it had great mobility. I've seen some of your other jackets with the bi-swing back and underarm gussets. What...

You and ton312 are like the 5* whisperers, so I'm sure this jacket will become the new Cafe Racer standard. I'm a fan of #10 zipper myself, but I also lean towards overbuilt for everything. Can't wait to see the results!

Beautiful jacket! How do you like the shoulder mobility? My 5* Cafe Racer gets tight when I reach forward (handlebars, steering wheel, overhead...) and I want a shoulder pattern with more mobility. Let me know - thanks!

My cafe racer had final pictures sent to me for confirmation before shipment. Shawn was great to work with and nailed all my modifications and measurements. Since this was my first leather jacket from 5*, I can now dial in my measurements and plan on my next jacket - imagination is running...

MrProper - you are running about a 4" spread in chest circumference and 6" spread in waist circumference. I am finding in the CR jacket the 6" spread in the chest is almost too tight and 6" spread in waist is too loose. I wonder if it is due to the arm attachments. Are you making your 5*...

T-shirt only or with thin sweater? 2" is very trim. I'm in Michigan, so it gets a little chilly every now and then. SoCal probably not so much. I'm trimming my jacket going down to 4" spread in the waist, but I'm not brave enough to try a 2" spread like some of you veteran leather jacket...
