Thanks for the confidence vote Jimmy the Lid; I've got some good before photos to compare with the after; I'll post results for those interested. Always hard shipping of an "old friend" although this one was in serious need of some TLC.
Still looking for that "MINT" Stratoliner in 7 3/8...
Thanks Stoney! I just spoke with the nice lady at Optimo who assured me they could take care of my old Stratoliner and make it good as new.
It's boxed up and shipped off; can't wait to see the results!
Kind Regards,

I'm sure this has been dealt with here before, but who is the current "Go To" guy for replacing a sweatband in a vintage (1940's) Stetson and perhaps re-blocking as well?
All answers appreciated!

I can commiserate with all! 7 3/8th Long Oval here...the posts are spot on about vintage blocked LO's being the tickets for we blessed with that head shape. I have a 50's vintage Open Road in Long 3/8 Oval that is a perfect fit in every way and for tha reason has been my "Go To" hat for decades...
Tom,
No, not doing so well! And yes, I actually was relieved to lose that bid; right before the higher bidder jumped in I had just found an identical TWA marked DC3 pin in an obscure corner of OFAS and had hit the BUY IT NOW key and had it at a fraction of what I was about to pay...this pin...
Thanks to you both! Bud-n-texas: Love the photos I've seen of your hats posted here; especially the Stetson Vogue--I had never seen one before.
Mingoslim: I believe we are both Lee Corral owners--LOVE the thin ribbons!
Anyway, thanks for the help on the pin. I'm just getting my feet wet on...
I recently came across a hat pin that I believe belongs on a Stetson hat; It is a small silver cowboy, sort of a characateur, big hat , big six shooter; I think I have seen one posted here before...
Can anyone help me with the vintage of this and what hats it was originally supplied on?
Kind...
Guitar for over 30 years now; mostly traditional and bluegrass tunes these days with a good bit of jazz influence. One of my true pleasures in life and finally playing it on a Gibson Advanced Jumbo I searched for many years to find.

Welcome! I've discovered,to my dismay/delight, that the "Perfect Hat" is somewhat a moving target. For me right now, the perfect hat would be a Stetson Stratoliner in silver belly, shaped just right, resplendant with original DC-3 pin gracing the ribbon. Of course after I had that one, I would...
I always remove them as well. However, if I ever find that perfect Stetson Stratoliner I've looked for so long, I would probably like to have that original DC-3 pin that came along with it as well as the box. Being a fan of the vintage aircraft of this era, I probably could'nt help myself...
Today it's my longtime friend a Vintage Stetson Open Road; I work within the Construction Industry in Eastern Tennessee and it seems this hat just "goes with the territory" Maybe it's because I'm so comfortable with it...
I'll have to say I like the look of the "Indy" hat itself; The one in both avatar and full size attachment is one of Steve Delk's fine creations. I got one of the very first gray ones he made a few years back and it may well be the finest hat I own including vintage (of which I granted only have...
Here is the full size photo; hat was blocked just fine for me as recieved! I always liked these simple, thin ribbon Fedoras. This one's a keeper for me.
Thanks to all for the welcome! I am travelling the first part of this week but when I return I will post photos of the Lee hat. Thanks johnnyphi! It truly is a hat both in color and style I have quested after for years; and thank you for taking the obvious care in shipping to insure it arrived...
Hello to all! I have been a visitor here at the lounge for some time although the combination of work and about one too many time consuming pursuits have kept me from taking the time to post and introduce myself. I have been a "Fedora Guy" for over 30 years now having aquired my first one from...
