Looks fantastic! Is that the dark brown or seal brown? I've been debating getting another Frobisher in a darker brown vs getting more styles (a CR, another work coat...), since a simple 1/2 belt style is so versatile.
Makes sense, since they are almost exactly the same pattern, but the journeyman has pocket flaps (and deer for the regular version). There was one review (in Japanese) that said that the Shinki Journeyman is a bit slimmer than the Brakeman.
I can easily justify also getting a Canuck and/or Dust...
Yeah, I'd love to try on the FW Speedmaster or Twin Peaks! Sadly, I haven't been able to find many great fit pics with people that seem to have a similar build.
Seeing the Old Goat fit photos really helped me decide to buy the jacket. The FW guys also do great photos--but they are missing fit...
I found the measurements to be pretty accurate for all dimensions. If I measure the back from the collar seam to hem I get ~26.5" or ~67cm. Small variations within each size I'm sure.
The finish is quite different. I have Shinki in 2 finishes:
- Mid brown aniline dye, wax pull up. Will...
As promised, here are some fit pics. Just phone pics--not high quality like the Old Goat photos.
- It is a longer length style of work coat, longer than a Himel Canuck or Freewheelers Dust Bowl.
- The style is a bit different with very large panels. 2 large front panels w/no upper chest seam &...
I can't tell if you're joking, but I did add whitespace just for you, @Sloan1874 , if you expand the quote above :)
It took me a few seconds to read and understand the Himel's post even without the whitespace, and I learned a thing or two! You might even enjoy it!
Tough crowd here :-)
@himelator's explanation is great, and I'm very thankful he put the time in to explain. This goes into much more detail than my own posts on the variables involved with stitching: the size of the hole, size of needle, tip type, shape of hole, the angle of the stitch, type...
That looks amazing and is a perfect fit. REALLY like the color combo with the brass hardware and contrast stitching color. And that lining is fantastic.
The flat seam in the back should be great for comfort against chairs.
Is that in Vicenza horsehide?
After a few months of wear, up to a couple times per week, some pics showing a little bit of evolution on my medium brown Shinki Frobisher:
Took the pics in overcast light after a lovely walk. Typical fog rolling in and out--jacket saw some fine mist and droplets, which only seems to...
That looks great on you! What jacket did you end up getting? Looks like a very versatile 1/2 belt style that you should be able to wear all the time :)
What does the back look like?
That's good to know. Roughy speaking, about how much more room for drape would you target in an A2 vs, say, a slim fitting half belt? Hypothetically, if such a half belt had a chest of 20 3/4" (21" if trying really hard to make perfectly flat)--would you go up another ~1 inch for an A2 p2p?
And...
That looks awesome. Perhaps it's ~$500 less because it's Italian horsehide (Victoria?) instead of Shinki (and because it's a return, but who cares).
I would consider it, but probably too big. I'm a 39" chest, and the 18" shoulders would be right. But 22.5" pit to pit seems like 1.5" too much...
I agree with @Superfluous. I also think that stitch count is really just an aesthetic preference, because any normal stitch count is more than functional in a leather garment.
With stitching, I personally prefer three attributes: the higher stitch count aesthetic, small holes relative to the...
That would be great! Have you received yours? Also a size 38? My tag says "Limited Edition 15 of 15" I wonder number yours is.
My photos are pretty bad, so you'll have to do better on that front :) The color in person is warmer. Here's another one from the Old Goat Instagram, less broken in...
The eagle has landed. Will follow with some fit pics within the week when I get a chance.
For now, just some quick pics out of the box. Fits is spot on though.
