I went through two of these jackets, the first was a medium Seattle Fit which was still huge, then I tried this 38 "Alaska fit" (again their sizing is all over the place s-m-l-xl, 36, 38, 40, 42, Alaska, Seattle), but I digress. So the nice seller sent me this 38 Alaska fit (pictured below)...
I'm 5'9 175 lbs and this is me in a 38R Filson Mackinaw Cruiser, I would be absolutely swimming in a 44R. I have a 43 inch chest and 32 inch waist for reference. I can't imagine how a 44R fits you perfectly when we're about the same size.
Sorry for the poor pic, but it at least gives an idea...
The 38 fits pretty well, I can get a sweater underneath as a layer and it doesn't look huge, it's still a boxy cut which is fine. Very nice, I would like a gray one too, may try that one in a 36 (I'm 5'9 175 lbs for reference).
So the Mackinaw Cruiser came today, exceptionally well made jacket and it would be awesome if it fit. I will never understand Filson sizing, it's one of the most elusive things in the world. I own a tin cloth jacket in Medium and this thing was really big on me when I was powerlifting and 215...
I finally ordered a Mack Cruiser in Seattle fit medium. I probably should've looked for a small, Filson sizes are huge, although I hoped the trimmer Seattle fit would be more true to size, we shall see.
Y'all are probably right, I've been wearing it nearly everyday since October so maybe I just need a break from it and mix in non-leather jackets I'm more comfortable in and save this for when I feel like wearing it. Worst case scenario when I die my future grandson will have a kick-ass vintage...
Hello,
I think my leather jacket phase is coming to an end, I just don't find them very comfortable and I'm probably not cool enough to pull it off. Anyway I eat all the depreciation on this wonderful jacket. It's just starting to break-in and look really good. It has no inside pockets I...
I'm lucky in that I dislike too much choice, makes me OCD. I have one leather jacket, one North Face shell, and stuff for layering. I have two watches, work watch and diver. One pair of boots and a pair each of black and brown wingtips and that's it. I also feel guilty buying myself things so...
@bluesforchallah - that's a sharp fit, I'm shorter so I'll never get a look quite that good but here is mine on a 5'10 175 lb frame. I've worn this jacket basically daily since October when jacket weather started (anything over 65 is too hot for a jacket IMO). I thought I would've hung it up...
Maybe a good soak in water and let dry to get the excess dye out? Do that a few times and see if it's at least moving towards being resolved.
I have a CXL cordovan HH 1930's HB and I haven't noticed any bleed. The risk is worth it because the CXL HH cordovan hide is just incredible.
I'm looking to sell my Alexander Leathers Roadster leather jacket size 40. It's described as Havana brown and uses Horween Chrome Tanned FQHH.
Measurements are as follows:
Size 40
Pit to Pit: 22"
Shoulder seam to seam: 18"
Sleeve length: 25"
Back Length: 24"
It's in very good shape except for...
The ability to draw on that horse hide like suede is definitely not normal and I wouldn't accept it. I'm sure Aero will take care of you. That said I can't wait for the shine to wear off my jacket, it's driving me nuts.
