Hat Sizing
Howdy, Mystic. As far as I know, the hat sizes have been accurate for the vast majority of the hats I've sold. Of course, I'd always like to hear sizing feedback from members who purchased any of my hats.
Thanks, gents! The hats for vets idea is solid, except for we still have the size problem. This will probably involve kiddos... Either getting the hats directly to kids of fedora loungers, or finding a local children's theatre or school drama department. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any...
Howdy Loungers!
It's your long-lost pal... Johnnyphi. My apologies for the lack of involvement in this great community. Starting a family (Yep, I’m a proud papa!) and moving home to Texas has kept me busy, but that doesn't mean I forgot about the good old Fedora Lounge.
After FIVE YEARs of...
Jimmy's Undershirt is a "Scandals" by REIS
Jimmy has been shown several times in an undershirt in multiple episodes. I'm 99% sure that it is a "Scandals" undershirt by Reis.
That's right, the brand was called "Scandals":

It's quite an honor for those old Schobles to be on display in a modern hat store. I'm sure the Schoble family would be proud. In fact, I recently sold a hat that was given to Mr. Schoble's daughter as a gift. I asked her family to get me in touch with her, so I could get more...
Initial Sizes...
OK... I checked, and I have three Size 16 suit forms, which measure a bit over 33" for the chest. The writing inside of one form says the neck is 13".
Some of the shirt forms are 38" in the chest, and the rest of the forms are 40-42" chest.
One man's junk is another man's suit form...
Thanks, GBR. I just hope they can be useful for some folks on the lounge, and I'm glad to see that others have expressed interest.
Small Forms...
I'm glad to know that you and the Baron might find some use for these forms.
I definitely have several smaller sized forms, and I plan to measure each of them this weekend, so I'll be able to give folks an accurate account.
After speaking with a local window dresser, I...
Well... I couldn't help myself. :eusa_doh:
Last weekend, I ended up at an estate sale conducted by the family of a longtime Dallas resident named Ramon Navarro. I was immediately struck by row-upon-row of vintage mannequin torsos (Not Literally), along with many other props that were...
Reminder...
It's time to unpack those hats for the Fall, and don't forget to visit Johnnyphi.com. I have quite a few hats left in your size, and I think this will be my last season in the hat business, so get them while the getting is good!
(Don't forget to use the coupon code "fedora" to...
Outstanding...
Thanks for the feedback, Bart!
Speaking of the boy... Can you give us more detail on how that Christmas present is holding up after more than a year? I'm sure he's highly disciplined regarding proper hat maintenance, but if he's anything like I was at that age... I'd imagine...
Who needs an iPad?
Who needs an iPad when you have one of these babies!?
The estate sale was at the home of a former reporter for the Dallas Morning News. She had several vintage typewriters, but I didn't buy any of them because The Fedora Lounge hasn't taught me about them... yet. And, my...
Outstanding!
Wow... It sounds like you had the best possible experience. I'm still hoping to hear from folks who might have had a less-positive story to tell.
I did hear of one crumbly sweatband, but I can't remember who it was.
Perfect for Scottish Weather?
Howdy, Rob. Well done on the successful brim trim! I think I do better with a more narrow brim, as well. I'm also pleased to hear that the hat is holding up to the unceasing Scottish rain, and I'm sorry I don't have any more in your size!
I went to an estate sale in Dallas just to look at this hat on top of the Remington typewriter:
Close Up:
The sale started at 10, and I got there at noon, but the hat was already gone. Ralph Willard (a local legend) was running the sale. When I asked him about the hat, he said he...
Howdy...
I bought a Stetson 25 Open Road at an estate sale this weekend for $5, and it got me started thinking about all of the comparisons between used vintage hats and NOS fedoras, not to mention the differences between modern hats and those from the "glory days".
Let's get some...
