What is a second label button hole attached with buttons for?

Ah! There's no matching button on the other side though, so presumably this is a decorative one.

What is a second label button hole attached with buttons for?

I've seen a waistcoat and jacket which each have a pair of buttons behind the lapel which are used to attach a small piece of fabric containing a button hole just above the normal button hole. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this is please? Thanks.

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

Last night I was walking home from the station (and listening to the tail end of The News Quiz, so I wasn't paying too much attention) when I walked past a pair of teenagers and one made a comment... I'm pretty sure he said "Top hat", but I'm really not sure if that was an attempt at a...

    Post New Hats Here!

The warmer weather is arriving and my usual black wool trilby is getting increasingly out of season, so I decided it was time for something lighter. Panama Hats Direct had a few items on sale, so I decided to give them a try. This arrived just in time for the weekend:

Why do you wear a fedora or cap?

My reasons are firmly grounded in the practical, when it is cold they keep my head warm, when it is wet they keep it dry, and when it is sunny I avoid being blinded by the glare from the sun without having to deal with having tinted lenses on a second pair of specs (one of the many joys of being...

"Doctor Who," He's Back and it's About Time!

The classic episodes are being released slowly and out of order, so you can pick up quite a few stories, but not yet all of them (and there are some older episodes which are lost because the tapes where wiped). The region one releases tend to lag a little way behind the region two versions...

    Still Looking for New Chinos

Not Walmat or Target, and I've no idea if you can find an M&S near you (their website is rather vague about where their international stores are), but I picked up a pair of Blue Harbour Twin Pleat Comfort Chinos a couple of weeks ago and I've been very happy with them (despite them being...

    Let's See That Tree!

Sadly, I'm not going to get a chance to put my tree up this year. I take possession of my new apartment on the 21st of December and will be spending the Christmas break painting it and then moving all my furniture out of storage. I'm really looking forward to the end of my migration between...

    The confidence for the hat

:eusa_doh: Sadly I appear to lack photos of it, and since it is parked on the other side of London, getting some will be a little tricky until I go and retrieve it next week. Suffice it to say, that its old, beat up, and red.

    The confidence for the hat

Actually, I meant that the need to be outside in nasty weather overcame any fears I had of negative commentary and odd looks. You are right though, living in a metropolis where you see some very strange get ups means that a hat rarely gets a second glance. It will be interesting, but...

    The confidence for the hat

London weather at this time of year did it for me. Moving to a city where you use public transport to get anywhere instead of driving everywhere really does a good job of encouraging you to find something other then a Peugeot to protect your head from the rain and cold. :)

Londoners: Has anyone gotten round to seeing Patrick Stewart in MacBeth this season?

It is at the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue

Londoners: Has anyone gotten round to seeing Patrick Stewart in MacBeth this season?

I'm still in the process of kicking myself over the matter. I managed to leave it too late to buy tickets, by the time I started looking they were reselling for £165 - a little outside my price range at present. It is a shame, it looks like an excellent production and Macbeth is my favourite...
