Great looking jacket Milu!
I am still enjoying mine thoroughly. I am thinking about getting one made out of goatskin too. The button cuffs are a good idea, although I'm considering zippered cuffs with longer sleeves. The actual zipper needs to be shortened too. Mine extends down past...
Yes I make the sheaths too. When I began making knives over 19 years ago I had to learn how to make sheaths too. I'm one of those sole-authorship nuts, and I have to make everything myself.
Cheers,
Fuad
Hi John,
Yes the laminated blades did perform better than Iron age fare. Considering how they would perform in comparison to Iron age and bronze age weapons they certainly would be regarded as magical. Typical Japanese blades are around 13,000 layers and the progression is like this...
Hello All,
Here's a condensed video of all of the things I've been involved with in the last couple of years. Making Damascus by hand, Roman swords, and shooting guns. Have fun watching it, and please don't give me too much guff about it. The Aero Admiral Byrd is in the last segment...
Yes KeyGrip I do post on bladeforums. I have a Damascus quillion dagger showing right now. I'm gearing up for my M.S. next year. My website is AcreMetalworks dot com . Sorry I can't post a link - it contains a commercial element. Check it out when you get time.
Cheers,
Fuad Accawi
Hello All,
Some may remember me from the legendary Admiral Byrd thread. I will be on the Discovery Channel's "How Stuff Works - Steel" episode tomorrow night Feb. 26th. at 8:00 pm Eastern. Unfortunately my Aero couldn't come with me as it was 90 deg. F. in 90% humid Tennessee at the time...
Men wearing scarred Wescos covered with desert sand = Cool
Men wearing designer lambskin boots with satin lining =Nancy
Ladies should feel free to wear high boots anytime =Grrrrrrr.
That is all.
Another Change
Well Lads,
The Steel episode has been moved yet again. I will not post any more announcements about air times until it actually shows. It will be shown for two nights so I'll post after the first showing.
Cheers,
Fuad
Hi All,
I've just received some footage from my failed History Channel pilot, but there are lots of fantastic shots of my Byrd Aero. I'm going to edit the best scenes together and post it on youtube soon. I'll post a link here when it's ready. I will also be appearing on How Stuff...
Sorry Fellows
Sorry Fellows,
I have been very busy, and have been remiss in keeping current with you. I am very happy that others are seeking to have Aero reproduce the Byrd Jacket. Alas the History Channel pilot never took to the air. It was quite a disappointment, but it helped to focus...
RE: Close up Admiral Byrd
Hello All,
Here are more detailed photos of the Admiral Byrd Jacket that Aero built for
Me. I had two modifications made after I got back home. I had two inside
breast pockets added, and I had the belt loops changed. The original loops
allowed the belt to...
Re: Indiana Jones and the Barrett
Hi All,
The Byrd jacket is Heavy Front Quarter Horse Hide in the vintage finish. I felt very comfortable in the early morning and late at night, and only relatively warm at 75+ deg F. days. I had taken it off at one point in the noon day sun wearing a navy...
Re: Boots
Great Boots,
I think the boots are the best you can get anywhere. They are 18" Jobmaster boots from West Coast Shoe dot com. I don't know if mentioning them breaks any rules. If it does you can email me for a link. They have online forms, but they also do custom work, and work...
RE: Close up Admiral Byrd
At the moment I am not really allowed to make any disclosures about where it will appear, and the exact premise. It's been in post production for a couple of months, and should be nearing completion. It is more edu-tainment than real history. I got to do a lot of...
Hello all,
My name is Fuad Accawi. I am a Bladesmith by trade. I was recently featured in a T.V. production for a History type channel. I wanted an exceptional jacket for protection in the Arizona Desert and settled on an Aero. We were in the heat, cold, dust, and rain (oddly enough) and...
