Yeah it definitely looks like a dark grey or black to me.
I love his hat the most out of the whole show. Optimo is a bit out of my price range so I'll have to find something close enough.
Thanks very much, I hadn't seen that interview yet. Usually if I can't find out any info, I email the costume designer. They almost always respond which is a nice change.
Sorry if this is an old topic. I tried the search function and after several pages decided to just post.
Trying to source out alternatives to the fourth doctor hat from Baker's first season. I know it was originally a Herbert Johnson Poet and that Penman does an incredible recreation of it...
Since a Deadwood movie has now been announced (coming out in 2019) , I figured this thread could be resurrected as well.
The show was filmed at Melody Ranch just North of Los Angeles. Other shows of note filmed there would be Westworld, Django, and various other westerns good and bad.
I have...
I have 2 quick questions.
1. I want a decent Bogart/1940s style fedora (no taper) that won't break the bank, something very noir. Thoughts?
2. I have an Akubra Federation that I've had for 9 years. It was large on me when I got it, had to put foam in it.... then after a few years had to take...
Just saw this movie today. Wow. That movie was damn good. I can not say enough for how excellent that was. The audience was silent when the credits started rolling. I haven't experienced that in some time.
They had a lot of attention to detail. Stuff I noticed having grown up in Cowboy country...
Older thread but for what it's worth, I reached out to Wested once. They said they made the holsters, and the bracer for the original film. Could be true, could not be. I know some places tend to take claim in order to get business.
I saw this movie on a plane yesterday. The sound was wonky, so I rented it today from Red Box and rewatched it with my wife. Love this movie. I'll definitely be adding it to my collection.
Thanks very much for the look! To my inexperienced eye it doesn't look in bad condition at all. Sweatband is in great shape with little signs of wear and the felt has no tears or stains aside from one really tiny dark dot towards the front.
Thanks again guys for the help.
I literally paid $50 dollars for the entire uniform and the hat. At the time, all the equipment as pretty dirty, so I didn't even put the hat on as it was in a plastic bag. When I got home and started cleaning everything I was shocked at this hat. It's a Borsalino Alessandria possibly pre-1985...
I bought a Civil War Uniform from a friend and he threw in a hat he had been using for free.
Low and Behold, it was this little beauty. A little beat up but still in decent shape.
She has also sworn that Indy wore Red Wings in all the movies and that she's never heard of Richard Swales at HJ ......
Nadoolman's memory seems to constantly play tricks on her. She can't seem to keep her stories straight from one interview to the next....
It's possible an australian model...
Which is pretty funny. I get that the felt could be unobtainable... lost source, etc... but the block made in your own shop from supposedly one of your oldest hats?
That block belongs in a museum!!!
Yes. The felt that was sourced for Raiders was unobtainable for TOD and LC. Not to mention for TOD... I think they slipped a few Stetsons in there for marketing purposes ( I could be wrong about this but it sounds right). On top of the company changes that have slowly resulted in the decline...
