Taylor does have their jackets made in Pakistan. i'm a collector of military, motorcycle and police jackets and have about 6 Taylors. the ONLY difference from those made in the U.S. and those from Pakistan is the thickness of the leather...the current Pakistan made jackets are thicker cowhide...
you'd need to see the back to say for sure, but the line all the way across the chest does put it in the category, as stated above, of a standard mall jacket albeit with thicker leather and a more motorcycle jacket genre. i collect military and legit police and motorcycle jackets, most of which...
hi...didn't mean to suggest anyone was opposing Taylor but it sounded as if there was some confusion (maybe not you) about how good their quality was, and also that their prices were as high as Vanson, Schott, et al, which they are really about half. sorry yours was the wrong size :(
i am...
got a brand new one a couple of years ago direct. same chp style they sell currently, made in Pakistan. all sorts of minor problems, such as unfinished leather edges (on pocket panels) and crease lines across the back as if the sheets of leather had been laying creased. i still have mine that i...
as i mentioned above, i'm not really concerned with anything but the armpit to armpit so i don't recall what their posted fit measurements were for the other dimensions, you can go over to legendary or cockpit and check it out....but the armpit to armpit looks to be right on the money for my...
i think generally you have to take all online measurements with a grain of salt. they're just references and a lot of the knowledge sadly comes from you yourself buying these jackets and getting a feel for what your size is.
that said, the most important measurement IMO is the armpit to armpit...
well, i actually got it on legendaryusa.com because they usually have cockpit stuff a bit off, and i was also able to scout out a legendary coupon to use...so cockpit's price of $612 (already on sale i think) came down to just over $500. it's worth the $612, given that most of these premium...
cockpitusa uss forrestal G-1 style flight jacket in the ANJ-2 style of no fur collar
posting again on this because 1. i saw deacon's summation, which is great, and 2. because since i posted above i received this and as good as the pictures are, they really don't do the jacket justice.
the...
POCKET PLACEMENT DiFFERENCE SiDE TO SiDE...
sorry for resurrecting this thread, which is excellent...but having as many G-1's as almost anyone on here, i've noticed (as hawkflyer notes near the top of his great comparisons/review) that the rightside (not camera right, but actual right side)...
as someone noted, whether some guy on the Forrestal had his mouton collar removed for a leather one in the hot Tonkin Gulf is apocryphal or not...the story has the benefit of not being able to unprove.
what's of more importance, and led me to buy the unpatched cockpit Forrestal version a few...
peacoat...oddly enough i found another schott G-1 exactly like mine from the 1998 contract...found it RiGHT here on the lounge after chatting with you...it was for sale by one of your famous members...it's the same size as mine, has the same slightly off kilter pocket placement as mine, and...
this is a 2yr old thread, but i'm looking up schott mil issued G-1s...BEEEEECAUSE...i just got one on ebay...annnnnd...it is a 46. it is exact to this one including the slightly off and lowered left hand patch pocket (camera right). i do know it isn't the one i just bought because the black...
well now that i've seen you've made bartender, i won't stay away.
after last year, i definitely need a drink!
thanks for the welcome back, and the swift answer :)
nice to 'see' you peacoat after all these years. the foto wasn't of the schott, but a similar sort of marking. thanks so much for clearing that up with what sounds correct to me. i scored a mil issued schott G-1 on ebay. wow, prices are going up for these things. i checked wikipedia's list of...
really hope someone can help me with the meaning of a stamp put on the collar tag of military jackets. a picture of what i'm talking about is attached here.
the jackets involved would be military issue, not part of the original tag, but stamped on it much as WW2 A-2 jackets had 'ok' tags...
well, here we go. wore this beautiful replica WW2 A-2 Flying Tigers by COCKPIT USA only 4 times, it is in MINT condition.
switched over to my love of pricey motorcycle jackets, so my beloved A-2s are going, best first.
note, there is more information about this, the condition, specific...

Originally issued in the late 50’s, the N-2b was designed to provide warmth and comfort for airmen experiencing extreme weather conditions in Northern Air Bases. For use in cold weather or extreme cold weather...
well, here we go again...making room for some new jackets and letting go of the ones not being worn much...
this one has virtually no evidence of wear on it, just lightly worn, no damage/rips/tears/etc...the classic orange strip (no longer made) with number one on the front, harley davidson...
