looks like a Schott IS-674-MS, they were produced mid-70's until end 80's.
if it is a Schott, you should find a small label inside the pocket that could help identifying it.
a bit back to famous people :)
there is new french movie that will be out next week here, with Jean Dujardin, who I think became famous in the US with the movie "the artist".
I was surprised when I saw the poster with him wearing an A-2, and not a modern re-issue.
wondering if he got it while he...
I am in to get the wookie jacket Han's pal is wearing!
oh, Chewie (he looks CG) is not wearing any? oups :D
2 things went to my mind when after I watched this 2nd trailer for the first time:
- The wait will be long until december (I was not that "excited" after the 1st trailer)
- how come they...
I just discovered "Jesse Stone" starring Tom Selleck. I think it is a good serie with great actor.
Tom Selleck is wearing an A-2 in the episode "night passage"
my 2 cents advice: wear it, wear it and wear it...
even inside if you want to "speed up" the process...
maybe not while having a bath :) but caught in light rain might help...
I kind of agree with you,
but I am more asking about the apache cream, not to apply everyday or once a week, but more in case they get caught in heavy rain, after letting them dry slowly.
Also after some months (or years) of wear, I think it is good to cautiously apply something to avoid the...
I agree with you,
just when reading description "Anniversary edition A2 jacket. Worn by USAAF fliers in the early 1940s, and created from the original Schott NYC government contract pattern.", I expect one piece back.
last comment on the new a2 "p274" made by Schott...
I finally could find a picture of the back on a japanese site...
2 pieces back...awful!
I was thinking of asking Schott to get a cowhide version if possible, but with such 2 pieces back, I pass...
I just got a pair of Chippewa 27864 last saturday, I think old stock as not on the Chippewa catalog.
The leather is called "Bay Crazy Horse", from the information I had from Chippewa, it is oil based cowhide leather.
I am usually not so crazy about shoes or boots, but I just "fell in love"...
I have asked the seller for a closer picture of the tag, to have more info about the jacket... I will come back here if I get this info.
other issued jackets are about the same price range, but most of the time used, not new.
basically the velcro is not an issue for me,
I was more wondering about how is it possible to have a new jacket for only 200-250 when it is around 400-500+ on cockpit website.
dead stock would be a plausible explanation
many thanks for the inputs
Hello,
I saw this cockpit USA A-2 on the bay (there are 2 offers for 44l and 1 for 38)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cockpit-USA-A-2-Leather-Flight-Jacket-Size-44-Large-/201015675761?pt=US_CSA_MC_Outerwear&hash=item2ecd77cb71
but for a new jacket, the price seems low (the initial bid price can...
very impressive! congratulations! and many thanks for sharing the pattern, even I will never be able to do one myself, I am terrible with a sewing needle... (and I am more 44-46 than 38)
Wear it with pride, not many people can wear a jacket they made themselves.
I usually wear my A-2 (BK RW horshide) until around 10°c, then change for the schott 184sm with inside fur until 0°c or a bit below... but this also depends from the under layering (t-shirt, shirts, sweatshirt) and the wind condition...
I tested this morning, shirt and sweat with the RW27752...
