Thanks for the replies. I have spent a ton of time searching for the exact officer's cord and can't find one anywhere. I didn't realize there were so many variations of the gold/black officer's cord! I really like how most of the cord on alanfgag's hat has faded, but the gold netting around...
Does anybody know exactly what campaign hat cord is on alanfgag's Stetson in post #516 of this thread? Is there anywhere where this exact cord can be purchased?
The hat/cord are currently on page 52.
Thanks!

That Alpha looks really Sharp! I'm glad it worked out for you. So many people assume that Alpha's are sub-par jackets. I just received a hooded MA-1 that I've put to good use during our last two rounds of snow up here in the northeast. It's a really nicely made jacket, and the fur lined hood...
I'm looking forward to your impressions of the Alpha G1. I love my black Alpha nylon MA-1. It's my go to daily wearer. I can't believe how few reviews of Alpha leather jackets are out there.
Removable mouton isn't noticeable unless you really look (I think they did their best to hide it since they were selling to military folks). I'm sure you could order a permanently attached collar. Fur is real mouton and really plush. I like the removable collar because the leather collar...
Terrible representation of their G1. They make jackets for several of the major US airlines and private purchase jackets for our military. They were adding under arm gussets and extra side panels to issued A2s (and making their own A2s) before the Air Force incorporated them into the current...
Pop's Leather makes quality G1s. You can get them custom made-to-measure in black or brown goatskin for $305. They come with removable real mouton collars. You can customize the jackets with zippered arm pockets and even with a full (arms and chest) removable Thinsulate liner. You can order...

I have a Canadian winter flight jacket listed on the bay if anybody is interested. I love the jacket, but it's too short in the waist. I did find some...
I am no expert on the originals, but take a look at the ones offered by Sporty's Pilot Shop. I have one from when they were made in the US and it is an awesome jacket (especially for the price you can find them on the bay). Even the full retail price on their website will save you a ton over...
I bought one of the "blood chit" Alpha MA-1s for my dad for Christmas. To the best of my understanding, they are "special additions". My dad flew in Huey's very early in the Vietnam war and has an original silk blood chit hanging on the wall behind his bar. When he unwrapped the jacket, he...
I believe that Gibson Barnes might very well outsource one of their MA-1s to Alpha. The one they sell that has an orange lining is imported. The GB rep I spoke with on the phone said that the MA1s they sell without the orange lining are made by GB in the USA. He believed they were of better...
I forgot to mention... Gibson Barnes makes their CWU 36 and 45 jackets with the old-style action back and with hidden hand warmer pockets behind the patch pockets on the front of the jacket.
I had Gibson Barnes send me samples of their Flight Nylon and their Mountain Cloth materials that they make their MA-1s out of last year. The FN was more shiny and was silkier to the touch. The MC had a flatter appearance and was rougher to the touch. Both held up quite well to having nails...
Can anyone please identify the jacket in the following link. I have seen several and they are all described as a canvas Navy deck or rain parka/anorak. Is there a model number (such as A2, G1, etc.) I should be searching for? Can anyone steer me toward a source for these jackets? Thanks for...
gtdean48,
Check out the jackets on line at Pop's Leather. I have a G1 from them and it has the zipper pull and female half on the Thinsulate liner, not on the jacket. Only the male part of the zipper remains on the jacket when the liner is removed. Can't recommend Pop's enough.

Thanks, Peacoat. I posted the same questions over on the VLJ forum. For the benefit of FL'ers who are not members over there, it sounds like the CVC and CWU 45 jackets are about the same warmth. One fellow said that the CVCs are made out of a less shiny material that is more comfortable to...
I have recently taken an interest in nylon and nomex (aramid) flight jackets, and would like to know if my fellow loungers can help me out with a few questions. First, I'd like to know how the nomex (aramid) CWU 45/Ps compare to the CVC aramid jackets as far as warmth, quality, sizing, etc. I...
The Orchard Branded website is www.800branded.com Wow, wasn't even close to remembering it correctly! The G1 is on page 14. You can get a better look at their jackets on ebay, where they sell under 800brandedcom and OrchardMotorcycledist.inc. Search "cowhide G1" and sometimes "horsehide G1"...
