Hello
Hello. I just recently signed up for this forum and saw your picture. I also am in San Francisco. I am sure there are others, perhaps we could meet at Sams on Bush for a drink. I'd be interested in learning more about where you shop as well. Take care.

Knickers
I was a volunteer at the US Open at Pebble Beach and we wore knickers in gold and red (49er colors) I have a picture of myself in them somwhere. I have to admit, they were comfortable and when I walked around the course, I didn't worry about tracking mud on my trousers or the cuffs.
Oakland?
Nobody with any taste can just stop at the 5 I listed. I just didn't want to list my entire collection of music. So, since you don't buy hats on e-bay, do you get them at the Hat Guys on Broadway and 18th?
Thanks for the responses
Thanks everybody for their input. I just wanted to get the ball rolling so to speak with my short list. There used to be a radio station in San Francisco that played music from the 1930's to 1950's and unfortunately, clear channel bought the station and changed the...
Vintage in Eugene?
I went to college in Eugene after leaving the military in the late 1970's. I would have killed to have a vintage shop to go to. I did wear hats and older type clothes even though I was only in my mid-20's. I just couldn't do the bell bottom thing or the rayon shirts.
In my opinion, anyone here should have some or all of the following in their collection:
1) Sinatra
2) The Big Bands-The Dorsey Brothers, Harry James etc.
3) Ella Fitzgerald/Sarah Vaughn/Billie Holiday
4) Chet Baker/Miles Davis/Charlie Parker
5) George Gershwin/Ira and Irving Berlin...
Blackboard Jungle
I first saw this movie when I was 7-8 and I remember asking my mother why was Dad in the movie? He looked very much like Glen Ford. I on the other hand, have been told I look like Gordan Clapp aka Detective Medavoy in NYPD Blue.
What I am Wearing Today

Purplish patterned tie by Brooks
Plain white shirt with a short spread collar by Robert Talbot

Vintage in San Francisco
I think it is easier and more acceptable to wear vintage or as I refer to it-"traditional" mens wear in San Francisco because a) the climate is cooler, making hats, vests, overcoats etc. more practical wear and b) wearing a costume is common place (not that I think I...
Age?
51 years old. I am so old, I remember going to 49er games with my father at Kezar Stadium and there were no women there, men didn't wear log wear because there wasn't any available. Food was dogs, peanuts, beer and soda. Those were your choices, noticably old school. My old man and the...
F. Scott
I make it a point to read Gatsby at least once a year and unlike most, I actually like the 1974 movie with Redford and Farrow. "Look at all those lovely shirts." Oh and the best version ever of "What'll I do" is by Chet Baker.
A Great Book
I read this book several years ago. It won the Pulitzer Prize and the author is a Professor at Stanford. It's on my to-do list to sit in on one of his classes to see if he speaks as well as he writes. I've passed this book on to a couple of my friends and they both liked it very...
I'll be traveling to Denver next month and want to bring a suit and some sport coats/slacks. Does anyone have a recommendation for a suit bag? Thank you.
