OG, Sahara with the copper ribbon look fantastic. I was waffling between Pecan and Sahara. I choose Pecan because I wanted something darker for this fall. If it was earlier in the year I certainly would have chosen Sahara. I'll save that color for next time. Your beautiful images confirm...
Indeed 1 centimeter is quite a difference. When the conformer and tape measure were mailed to me, I spent a good hour getting the conformer just right. Exactly where my sweatband rests. 1 finger above my eyebrows and 1 finger above the ears. In regards to the actual measurement, both my wife...
My concern is also discussed in these threads.

After the long wait, filled with anticipation, the day finally arrived!!!
5.5 inch crown, 2 3/8 underwelt brim, 14L ribbon, Pecan in color.
The color and craftsmanship are absolutely beautiful! It is more than I had anticipated or hoped for.
Unfortunately no mug shot because the hat...
In my quest to rekindle old threads instead of creating new threads, this one has some merit. I am trying to decide on crown height. I am somewhat conscious regarding to much crown height. However, to little crown height has much head pushing back on the center crease. Perhaps I should go...
I just got back from a weekend in Chicago. My first Optimo is now on order! Chicago, 2 3/8 brim, 14L ribbon, Silverbelly 1000 felt. I might need to make this a yearly tradition.
Pics coming soon!
Eric,
Who blocked this toquilla straw that you got from Panama Bob? As another bald man in the Twin Cities, I feel your frustration regarding the flying pests!
Outstanding cover Clossonrr! I just sent my conformer back but my lack of patience found me purchasing a Fed IV. I'm sure the VS will be worth the wait. I agree that the images look more brown. i'm looking at my granite felt sample and see 2 completely different colors. Darn computer...
DJH, Sharp looking VS! I'm in the process of my first VS creation and I'm leaning towards a lighter felt for summer. I like the idea of the vent design quite a lot. However, I am one to sweat quite a bit regardless of temperature so I'm somewhat concerned about a felt sans liner. I'll talk...
Good point daizawaguy. It's not always the heat but the humidity! Here in the upper midwest it rarely gets above 100 F but the dew point often climbs above 70 F. That's when I really start sweating! A straw isnt going to save me then. Also, when the dew point is that high, it's only a...
Impressive Display
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but this is quite the impressive display! People who are just trying to find their way in this new world of hats certainly appreciate the effort and attention to detail. hats off to you! :yo:
I must ask, how did you shape your Fed...
ggmagic, I could have used that hat today! I went for a nice walk around the lake with my tightly woven panama and I couldn't get a breeze to cool me off. I actually ended up holding my hat for much of the walk just to cool my head!
Was this a Panama Bob hat that Art blocked? Please give us...
DJH, if you ever find yourself staring at all your hats, wondering how it got to be so, just read your own post and all will become clear.
Btw, fine looking cover!
It would interesting to see if there is an increase in "dualist" orders in the near future. It has certainly earned a spot on my wish list! I only own a few hats and my wish list is quite extensive but that's beside the point. ;-)
Let the Process Begin!!!
Just sent the VS conformer back to OR in the mail! Thanks to all who have posted their handsome works of Art on here for us to view. It certainly helps us new comers start in the right direction!!
I've viewed these images from multiple monitors. Could this possibly be the caribou color instead of black? When I view other images of black Stetson Pinnacle's, they seem much deeper and darker black. Perhaps it is the custom ribbon and trim that lighten things up slightly.
